At my University we had a group of students who were trained in giving school tours. They were referred to as university ambassadors (sp). All you had to do was call the office of admissions and they would schedule someone to show you around the campus. Perhaps VSU has a similar program.

I have contacted the school but unfortunately since it is a Saturday they are not available. So I have to rely on volunteers and the flyer idea would work if we were in Virginia. We will be traveling from NJ. We are already set to go to Norfolk and Hampton. We just wanted to tour VSU so the kids could have the opportunity to see more

Thumbs up

You all can still tour the campus, even though the university will not be "open". At least give the students the opportunity to say they have been on XYZs campus b4.

If the students like what they see, then maybe at another time, he or she can get that "official" tour you were trying to give them.

Just a thought, maybe call VSU back and ask if you might be put in contact with the BSU (Black Student Union) president or advisor and ask if someone from an organization would be willing to guide you around campus even though the Admissions office/campus tour office is unavailable. Someone around campus should be able to help you.
