Anyone from San Fran?

I will be in San Fran shortly to meet with some clients for the firm and will probably have little to do after the meetings. We've got reservations at the grand cafe (I wasn't responsible for picking dinner joints). I've been told to check out Mezzanine and Six and I might have a friend at Ruby Skye. We'd probably want bottle/table service and to try and avoid the overly gay areas. Anyone have any ideas?

Ruby Skye is a pretty nice club... if you want another kinda posh place to go try the Bubble lounge.. it's a really chill place where you can order all types of different champagne and wine by the glass and by the bottle... also different types of martinis... very poshly decorated and chill... They do give you a table and serve you so.. sounds like it would be perfect for what you need.. on weekends it can get kidna crazy though... if you want more info. ... If you're looking for something a little more fun and funky... but still a bit upscale try Sake Lab.... How long are you in San Francisco ? have you ever been here to SF before ?? Let me know if you need any other information

What's the crowd like at those places? Old/Young? Gay/Straight? And what type of music? I'm trying to avoid places that look like warehouses where guys shave their chests and dance shirtless. I'm also not looking for a hip-hop crowd. I won't be drinking much but the people I'll be with take it straight so full bottles for tables is what we're looking for. A little funk couldn't hurt - I'd rather not be sitting there at a lounge with 45 year old men and 20 something girls.

Ruby Skye is definitely a bit older... i actually felt kinda uncomfortable when I went becuase I felt I was a bit young to be hanging out there... I'd say it's mostly early thirties... you get some younger people in there... but mainly it's a slightly older than college age crowd there... Def. a more upscale crowd though
Bubble lounge is Def. a more upscale older crowd as well.... more of a relaxed place like I said they serve you and stuff there.... no real dancing... it's like it says... a lounge... Ruby Skye on the other hand is a club... and they do play different music from Techno to Hip Hop

Sake Lab is a restraunt/bar/club... they have all different types of sake and Japaneese food... very lavishly decorated.. probably has the youngest crowd out of the three places I've told you about......but San Fran. is a very diverse city... I can generalize but there will ALWAYS be exceptions
Umm hate to tell you but ...these aren't like "gay bars" that I've directed you to but I'd bet there will be a gay person or two there.. (just like any other city)

look at the websites if you have any questions about the places I've mentioned, but yeah I'd say if you want a club Ruby Skye.. if you want a place where you can just get a drink and talk and chill... but it's classy... I suggest Bubble Lounge. Both are fairly dressy places. Sake Lounge is more casual attire wise... and a bit more "crazy" than bubble lounge... but fun... any more Q's let me know...

No no I'm not saying I want a totally straight place. I just want to avoid gay hangouts. I'm not looking to pick anyone girls up. I just don't want to feel out of place.

Is there a younger equivalent of Ruby Skye? I'm not looking for a college scene but I don't want to deal with a bunch of 40 year olds dancing and thinking being single is still cool.

I'd say 40 is going to be the top age for Ruby Skye... most people are going to be 25-35 a few above that... but like I say I felt kinda uncomfortable when I went becuase I was I think 22 at the time and I was just a *few* years young to feel like part of the crowd... there's really no in between type of places it's really either like college vibe... or a bit older crowd.... Sake Lab may be a bit younger... but I think Ruby Skye would be a good choice to go to if the club vibe is what you're looking for... If you want a less upscale place.. (still nice... just not AS "exclusive" or whatever) Try Matrix... really San Fran is a VERY diverse city with a very relaxed and chill club scene....

Don't forget to visit THE original Ghirardelli (sp?) site at the Fisherman's Wharf. That place is a neat place to visit.

ETA. I know there is a Ghirardelli in Chicago, but doesn't it always says "San Francisco"? Why not, eh?

Is it cooler? I want to see it actually. Thanks for reminding me. The one in Chicago is OK but it's nothing special. Now I want ice cream.

The Ghiradelli in SF is great - I've gone every time I've been there.

Hey Rudey,

What days will you be here? I went to Ruby Skye last Friday because I won free tickets and drinks and it was so empty! When my friends and I finally decided to leave at 11:30, it was still dead. It's like that unless a promoter throws a big party. You should check out the calendar on the website: . Ruby Skye I've never been to Club Six, but here is their website: Club Six

There are new clubs that are pretty chill called Fluid and Loft 11. Check out the nightlife pages at Cityseach or Digital City . The clubs page at SF Station breaks events down by day of the week and gives you links to the club webpages.

Mezzanine looks like a renovated warehouse and caters to a gay clientle, so from what you said, I don't think you'd want to go there.

If you have anymore questions, let me know. Have fun!
