Events With Other AGD Chapters

I was just wondering how many of you guys ever have events with other nearby Alpha Gam chapters, and what you have done together (aside from IRD). There are about 4 or 5 other chapters that are pretty close to mine—one is less than a half hour away—but we hardly ever get together with any of them. I think it's a shame to not take advantage of having sisters so close by, and I'm hoping that I can get some ideas to make the girls get excited about trying to contact the other chapters.

while I was still active we did alot of stuff with UTD's Epsilon Psi - mainly JDF walkathon and such. Last I heard, Epsilon Phi didn't even participate in the walkathon this year  thats another story though!

I love bringing the chapters together though, I wish it would happen more often its great to meet other sisters!

Maybe y'all could host a mixer together? I'm so unoriginal I know

There were a couple of chapters close to mine and we'd hold our overnight sisterhood retreats there and spend some time with their members...getting to know them, share stories, etc.

Another idea is to assist with recruitment...I know of small chapters that help each other out. This way the assisting chapter does the serving, etc. while the chapter holding recruitment can focus on just that - recruiting. Your Recruitment Consultant can provide details on how this can be set up.

Back in the olden days there were pledge skips, where a pledge class went to another chapter for a weekend. The v.p.-frat ed and maybe one other were the only initiated members to go.

We went to Beta Eta (Southern Illinois University). A couple of years later my chapter hosted the ADPi pledges from the University of Illinois--two of them were my (biological) sister's dorm roommates and the ADPi chapter at my university couldn't/didn't want to accommodate them. (One small step for Panhellenic cooperation....)

Nowadays risk managment would trump even the limitations of six- to eight-week pledge periods and students' varied work/class schedules in making a pledge skip impossible.
