Wilson’s commitment to education began as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Kenya shortly after his graduation from the university. Since then he has served as a policy associate with the National Education Association and is currently the first tenure-track Africanist in the history department at Wake Forest University. Wilson recently received the Franklin H. Williams Award for Outstanding Community Service from the Peace Corps for his continued contributions to the program. A former member of the Longhorn Band, Wilson has returned to campus for the Longhorn Alumni Band Weekend and has recruited students from the university for the Peace Corps.
