Has anyone ever trimmed their eyelashes?

How long does it take for them to grow back? I just trimmed mine because they get so long that they turn down and poke me in the eye. I'm just wondering how fast eyelashes grow as I've never really had to think about it before.

I've never trimmed mine before. I'm sure they'll grow back. I'm just curious, what did you trim them with?

um, instead of cutting your eyelashes, why don't you use an eyelash curler and some mascara?

Who the hell cuts their eyelashes (particularly a female)?

I was wondering the same thing? Most girls I know would do crazy things to have beautiful long eyelashes

You should never trim your real eyelashes. When make-up artists refer to trimming eyelashes, they mean the false ones.

Even if your lashes are very long, as kddani said, an eyelash curler and mascara should be sufficient.

Scissors.

I'd rather not have to put on mascara when I'm trying to study or go to sleep! That's when it bothers me most (but it bothers me the rest of the day as well, I'm just busier and don't notice it as much). It's difficult to function because they were very long and curly, but when they get to a certain length, then just turn downward (too heavy maybe?) and interlock with the lower ones. It's something like a Venus Flytrap when I blink. So, almost everytime I blink, I have to reach up and pull them apart. Then, once they are apart, the upper ones that were stuck just hang down into my eye--they are broken and no longer curl upward. My nephew's do the same thing (he has my eyes) and a couple moms in his class said they trim their kids' eyelashes to keep them from doing that, so I thought I'd give it a try. It actually does feel a lot better! You never know how good blinking feels until you can't do it properly. Just wondering how fast do lashes grow as opposed to other hair.

Yikes! Be careful! I never met a girl whose eyelashes were too long.
Consider yourself lucky!

Curling them might help. Just be careful trimming, the ends will be blunt instead of feathery, and I don't know how that would work.

Scissors near my eyes = No Thanks.

On the other end of the spectrum, has anyone gotten eyelash extentions?? I got them for fun since a girl I work with was starting to do them and needed practice, so she gave me a whole set for free (thank god, because I sure as hell wasn't about to pay $300+ for them). They were fun for about 2 days and then they got on my nerves since you can't touch your eyes, rub your eyes, you have to dry them a certian way, and taking eye make-up off was a major pain. I think they lasted about a week before I got rid of them.

You are setting yourself up for trouble and eye infections with this. So are the mothers doing this to their kids.

Get an eyelash curler and learn how to use it. Stay away from mascara - it will just weigh them down more. If the curler doesn't work, see a dermatologist. But DON'T cut your eyelashes!! This is on a par with using a letter opener to get something out of your ear.

I would love to have the problem of having too long of eyelashes! Just curl them so that they turn upward and stay away from your eyes.

I have a really bad habit of pulling my eyelashes out. Mine aren't super long, but once in a while I'll have a stray or two that decide to turn down and I yank that puppy out, either with my fingers or tweezers. I also use a very thick mascara and it doesn't matter how good I wash my face and eyes, there will still be chunky remnants of mascara left. I've been known to pull out almost all of my lashes from pulling the remnants out. They grew back to full volume in about 2 days.

I was in a very bad car accident some years ago (as a pedestrian), and one of the things that happened was that all of my eye lashes fell out. It took about 4 months for them to grow back to a visible sense, about 6 months to their normal length.

I'd try an eyelash curler before trimming my eyelashes. I always warm my eyelash curler with my blowdrier before using it, so it "sets" them.

I trim my eyelashes a few times a year, when I notice they are annoying me, so I'm guessing it takes a few months for them to grow back to full-length.

My eyelashes are already naturally curly, it's just those strays that hang down straight and those few are also painful to the touch. I usually end up just pulling them out, but lately there's been too many to keep up with. I only trimmed them down to half length and it does feel a ton better, though it's weird looking at myself. I actually see my eyes! Usually they're heavily "framed," though I'm sure no one else would notice. I probably won't do it again, I just needed some relief from the torture.
