Possessing Smarts
Psychologist Howard Gardner identified the following 7 distinct types of intelligence.
1. Linguistic
People with this kind of intelligence enjoy writing, reading, telling stories or doing crossword puzzles.
2. Logical-Mathematical
People with lots of logical intelligence are interested in patterns, categories and relationships. They are drawn to arithmetic problems, strategy games and experiments.
3. Bodily-kinesthetic
These people process knowledge through bodily sensations. They are often athletic, dancers or good at crafts such as sewing or woodworking.
4. Spatial
These people think in images and pictures. They may be fascinated with mazes or jigsaw puzzles, or spend free time drawing, or daydreaming.
5. Musical
Musical people are always singing or drumming to themselves. They are usually quite aware of sounds others may miss. These people are often discriminating listeners.
6. Interpersonal
People who are leaders among their peers, who are good at communicating and who seem to understand others' feelings and motives possess interpersonal intelligence.
7. Intrapersonal
These people may be shy. They are very aware of their own feelings and are self-motivated.
Which one (or more) of these do you possess??

7 and 1 best describe me.
and maybe a little bit of 6. I am ok in small groups, but a room full of people and I get super, extra nervous.

1, 6 are definitely me. I lack most in 4, a bit in 2. I tend to go with my gut, so while I dont make huge leaps lacking in "logic" I try to follow my instincts with people. And I think in words, not images.

4 all the way, followed by 5. Lack most in 1. Try to compensate for 1 by using 4, images represent almost everything including words.

1. I'm average on this. I used to write poetry, but it was always a struggle.
2. I'm high on this. Probably the highest out of the 7.
3. I'm a little high on this, too. I love arts and crafts, cooking, etc. I often disregard the instuctions and change things. It always turns out well!
4. I'm high on this, too. I learn and remember things best by the way they look.
5. I'm pretty average on this.
6. I think I'm better at reading others than interacting with others (especially in maintaining long term relationships).
7. I'm high on this, too. I'm always trying to improve on my faults, so I need to be aware of myself.

Re: Possessing Smarts
I'm definitely a melange of all these qualities. The smallest quantity would be of 5. I CANNOT SING TO SAVE A LIFE!!!
1. I LOVE to read. I get lost in books. I also love crossword puzzles. I like learning languages. Definitely have this.
2. Used to love math until I got to honors diff eqs I have a lot of this too.
3. Can sew, knit, crotchet, etc. I don't know about dancing - at least not like ballet or tap African dance, etc, then cool.
4. Definitely possess this. I like to draw a lot - and yes I daydream a bit. Jigsaw puzzles are not something I do often but just because I don't come across or look for them. I do like doing them though.
5. Definitely lacking some of this. I cannot sing AT ALL!!! But do I spare those around me ?????? NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I will sing along to anything - so beware to those to ride in the car with me I used to take piano lessons when I was younger and did okay - I wish I'd continued
6. I like to be in charge of projects and am pretty good at organizing things. Still working on dealing with people who don't pull their weight.
7. I am definitely a shy person, although not as much as when I was younger. Being a teaching assistant responsible for actually teaching a class will pull you out of your shell in a second Part of it is I love to just observe people and their behavior, interactions, etc.

Most educators label these as 'Learning Styles". I have to do an assessment on my students and indicate each student's style. I believe there are now 9. I dont' see auditory nor tactile.

There are 8 now. Naturalistic has been added:
Naturalist: recognition and classification of objects in the environment

I am 1,3,5 and 6.
1. Linguistic
People with this kind of intelligence enjoy writing, reading, telling stories or doing crossword puzzles.
I am a copy editor by trade, but I am a screenwriter/novelist by night. I also write poetry.
3. Bodily-kinesthetic
These people process knowledge through bodily sensations. They are often athletic, dancers or good at crafts such as sewing or woodworking.
I am a great dancer.
5. Musical
Musical people are always singing or drumming to themselves. They are usually quite aware of sounds others may miss. These people are often discriminating listeners.
I write songs, too!
6. Interpersonal
People who are leaders among their peers, who are good at communicating and who seem to understand others' feelings and motives possess interpersonal intelligence.
I love people. I am also extremely aware of other people's feelings/needs. I have a sixth sense when it come to knowing how someone really feels, no matter how much they attempt to hide it.

I actually possess characterisitcs of almost all of the groups...I lack in#2, and am highest in #'s 1, 3, & 6.
1.) This category is definately me--I can write a paper for a class in 2 hours and still get an A on it (and I go to a very academically-challenging university). I'm very good at grammar and love to read & play word games (ex. Scrabble or word games on yahoo, such as Bookworm or Literati).
2.) I possess a little here, sad to say. I did great in Math in High School (Algebra, Calc), but after that it's all a blur.
3.) I used to be athletic in high school (five years ago); I danced, played sports, even took a martial arts class), but I don't have time for all of it now. I've always
4.) I'm a very visual person. I am very artistic--can draw, do portraits, ceramics, jewelry making...and I have a photographic memory.
5.) I LOOOOVE music, and even though I cannot sing, I do anyway! I have very eclectic musical taste, and can be seen at any given point throughout the day listening to my discman (unless I'm at work or in class or something).
6.) I love meeting different types of people. My friend-base is very diverse. The types of orgs I'm involved in at my school and the leadership roles I've assumed within them allow me to meet different kinds of people. Also, I love to talk, so I have no problem opening up to anyone new I meet, and instantly establishing a connection with them. In most cases, I'd much rather be in charge, and do things my way, and delegate to others (esp. isnce I've very opinionated) that take orders from someone else.
7.) I'm not shy by any means, sometimes stand-offish, but not shy. But I am usually very aware of my own feelings and self-motivated (to an extent).

Can say that I am all of the above except #4 and #7... maybe 1/2 and 1/2 on #3.
1. I am always running my mouth about something. On my fourth grade report card the teacher remarks that i would be ready for any debate
2. Math was my intended major in school... I absolutely love the challenge of a good equation!
3. Whenever im stressed I go home to our empty room and turn the radio on and dance it all out. It's such a healthy release
(better than just pimp slapping people)
4. I have always hated puzzles......always.
5. I believe most nosey people have to be high in this area. I love music and listening to people in general.
6. Think this just goes along with #1.
7. Again... I have been a talker since I was born... there is no way I can be shy...or even pretend.

I'm a #1 and #7. Am actually still rather reserved. Haven't been able to completely shake off the weirdo/oddball taunts I got when I was a kidperson.
