School Fieldtrips
I'm taking my class on a fieldtrip on Thursday and was thinking about the cool places I went when I was in school. Does anyone else remember trips they took? What was the best one?
I think my best one has to be going to Galena, Illinois in fourth grade. The trip to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin in 6th grade was pretty sweet too.

In grade school the field trips we took to Sea Life Park were always my favorite. That and trips to the Meadow Gold Dairy Farm to the North Shore. As we got older, we began taking overnighters/weekend field trips to the Big Island and Maui. I was more excited to fly on an airplane than the actual trip itself!

The best field trip I had ever been on was to Six Flags for high school physics class. The second best was probably in elementary school to this farm where we got to make flax from wool (from their sheep) and we got to make candles by taking turns dipping a string in a bucket of melted wax.

I don't really remember all of my field trips in my younger years. I remember going to the local museum and planetarium. We also went to Henry Ford museum and that's pretty much all I can remember from elemetary school.
In middle school a group of 40 of us went to Washington, DC. We were in DC over President's weekend wearing shorts while everyone back at home were stuck in their houses because there was a blizzard. When all of us got back from our trip we were ahead in our schoolwork because they had closed school for two days because of the snow.
In high school I remember going to Stratford, Ontario to see plays every year. We went to Chicago to the Science Museum, Toronto (I can't remember what we went there for), and we always had our Cedar Point trips.
When I was a junior my French class went to Quebec. That is a trip I'll never forget, lol. The people that I roomed with were so much fun! The hotel was divided into two parts...everyone else that we were with, including chaperones, were on one side of the hotel and we were on the other side of the hotel by ourselves...no, we didn't cause any trouble. All I have to say is, "the bar is open."

I had a really weird teacher during my soph and jr years of HS...but she made some wonderful field trips.
Best ever: we had a field trip to go see the movie Pleasantville. She was enamored with this film and so she arranged for the movie theatre to open early so we could see it.
2nd best: was part of our art history course (of which we did for like three weeks, twice a week). Went to the Country Club Plaza in KC, and had to take pictures of like 5 statues or fountains. It was set up like a scavenger hunt basically, in that we had to find them, but our only time limit was lunch...At the Cheesecake Factory. Afternoon was followed up by the Nelson Atkins Art Museum, and by that point I was old enough to appreciate it more. Ended up being a most excellent day, as we didn't have to do much besides look at art.

We would see lots of films in IMAX theatres as well as visit museums & zoos. None of these things are in my city so we always had to take buses elsewhere.
We did go to an amusement park when I was in High School for Physics-that was fun.

I held hands with Jeannie during the play since we were boyfriend and girlfriend. we also shared lunch. i remember getting shit from the other boys too. whatever. it was my favorite field trip...aside from the one I had last february for my HRT 355 class (CntryZTA knows what I'm talkin about!!!!!) aka Wines and Spirits. We went to the Temecula wineries and I got HAMMMMMMMERED. Holey shit I passed out on the bus. good times. man, I guess Cal Poly wasn't so bad after all. I did have fun!

I grew up in San Diego so some of my most memorable are:
San Diego Wild Animal Park
San Diego Zoo
Reuben H. Fleet Science/Space Center
The yearly school trip to Disneyland

I went to school in the suburbs of Chicago so naturally we took a lot of field trips into the city. I saw several plays, one opera ( Carmen with my French class), went to several museums (my junior high chorus used to sing at the Museum of Science and Industry around Christmas. I also took trips to the Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, Field Museum, and Chicago Historical Society), the Sears Tower, Hull House and UIC, the Chicago Stock Exchange and the Merc, and some other places I've probably forgotten. When I was a senior, we went on a National Honor Society field trip into the city...officially we were going to the Art Institute (that's what the permission slips said) but our sponsor said that we were being dropped off at the Art Institute at 9, and as long as we were back at the Art Institute to meet the bus at 2, he wasn't going to make sure we spent all the time in the Art Institute. My friends and I took a quick trip inside, then shopped on Michigan Avenue for the rest of the day.
We also took trips to Great America in 8th grade and senior year. The most fun trips, though, were the overnight trips. In 4th grade my class went on a weekend camping trip (in cabins, not tents!). In 8th grade I went on a trip to Washington DC, and senior year I went on an Operation Snowball weekend (which happened to be at the same camp my class went to in 4th grade...it looked a lot smaller that year! )
Senior year, between my classes and some of the clubs I was in, I was out of class on field trips at least once a week for the last quarter of the year, pretty much.

Museums, Art Gallerys, State Capitols if Close.
Learning Fine Arts such as The Philarmonic, Arts will maybe instill in kids there are finer things in Life!
Or depending on the School, Take them to The Ghetto and show them where Kids were Killed along with their Familys.
Try The Local Police Department. The News Stations or Weather People.
Learning is a Big Thing for The Kids, give them something to look forward to!
They Too Can Learn and Grow!
