Regional Conferences

We are all in the process of planning Regional Conferences for this year. I have a few questions:

1. Alumnae, what kind of programming would motivate you to attend Conference for the day on Saturday?

2. Collegiates, if you had the opportunity to go on a field trip on Saturday night of conference where would you want to go and what would you want to do?

3. If you have been to a conference before, what would you like to have done that you didn't get to do?

I'd love to hear your input!

I'd love to see more programs that deal with alumnae chapter health and alumna development. I'd also like to see some information sessions on alumna initiation that might help standardize the process at the international level.

I'd also like to see more programming tailored for those alumna in attendance who may not be on chapter advisory boards. (To be fair, there might have been lots of sessions that covered this information, but I was shadowing a chapter advisor, and didn't get to attend any sessions that weren't related to CA duties).

If I can think of anything else, I'll post it!

Woohoo, a question I can answer!

1. I am probably going no matter what, so I don't need motivation. As an alumnae chapter president, what I would like to see is programming that will help me to get alumnae involved and interested in our chapter. Ways to get them to come to events, ways to get them to pay dues, etc. I think everyone on my alumnae chapter exec board could use some training on what their positions truly entail and some ideas about how to go about doing things. I guess I would compare it to officer transition in collegiate chapters. I think as alumnae we are thrown into our positions more (at least in my group), so I'd like some training in that aspect. I think this is sort of what will be going on this summer at the convention, but I don't know if anyone from Boston will be going. And we could use the help now.

As a RA, I think some training that is more specific to us and not the VPMR would be nice. Like Rush U stuff. A lot of RA's can't make Rush U, but maybe could more easily make the weekend. I know I'd love a refresher since I won't be going next year. And I think this might be the CA's responsibility (I don't know if it is), but training or help on how to get other advisors would be nice. I *need* another RA at one school I advise, but I don't know how to get one since I don't live in the area, and the last two that shared it with me didn't come to one rush event.

2. I know I'm not a collegiate, but I was one not too long ago, and I went to a conference. I would have liked to have left the hotel. I wouldn't have been picky on what I did. A movie maybe? I think everyone in the NE liked seeing the Syracuse chapter a lot last year. When we had conference in RI two years in a row, all the collegiates freaked out over the mall in Providence. They all wanted to go in there, I don't know whether to shop or just hang out. So that might work too.

3. My answer to this one would need other RA's at conference. I would like to sit down with them and just talk about rush. What happens in other schools, what works and doesn't work, etc. I remember doing this at my first conference when I was VPCO with other VPCOs, and it was very interesting. I picked up a lot, but it was also very nice to see other chapters who had the same problems that we had. So I guess I'd like an unstructured thing where we all sit down at a table and just chat, but only about recruitment. And then of course Rush U stuff. Maybe what themes, skits, videos worked at other schools in the fall? Anything else that could be updated since the summer?

Great questions! I liked answering them!

What would motivate me to go? Money! If I had the funds to go, I would be at Conference in a New York Minute!

Here's to hoping I can go!
