What are your Alpha Chis like?
I promise I won't get mad about anything you say. My younger sister went through rush and pledged Alpha Chi Omega instead of my chapter. She was an in-house legacy. It broke my heart, but I'm getting over it. I am curious what their reputation is at different schools and nationally.

From what I have heard every chapter in Texas is awesome!!! I went to A&M and they are doing well there from what I have heard. I also work with the UT Austin chapter occasionally (more in years past) and they are a group of classy women at UT.

The AXO's here are for the most part some very attractive young ladies, but we've had some problems with them at social events. We had a frosh with them early on in the school year (watched Friends, had rootbeer floats, then went to party), but they just wouldn't talk to us during the Friends episode, and then at party afterwards they just stood by the kegs, had four or five beers in an hour and then left at 1030. It was really dissappointing.
A couple of weeks later we had an all house dinner event with them, went to TGI Fridays, and only 12 of them showed up, of them only 6 joined us afterwards for drinks, and they all left b/c "there arent' any girls here" hmmmm wonder why that one was. I'm sure there are some very nice girls in the house but they either don't show up or b/c of these couple weird experiences don't think we are very fun.
Other than those personal things, they seem to do pretty well on campus, a couple of PH council officers I think. I also think that they were the sorority winners of Homecoming this year.

A Chi O is a pretty popular sorority at UM. If you want to get on the whole social scale thing they would definately be a high second tier. Howerever they sometimes get the reputation from fraternities as being sluts (like normal you have some girls that can ruin it for a whole house). Id say the only major problem that they have is a high de-activation rate (the highest on campus). Its for various different reason but I think a major one is housing. They have a pretty small house and they take in way more girls than they can house and handle, so by their junior year many girls are gone. They tried to buy our house when things were down for my chapter, but it wasnt going to happen. I learned from an old alum of my chapter that they were also our competiton during rush for years and it wasnt the friendliest of things . One of my fave people I worked with was is an AXO

The AXOs at MIT are, for the most part, a great group of girls. Then again, so are all the sororities at MIT, and that's not just "Panhel spirit" talking, it's the truth.

I want to revive this thread. I am an A Chi O and I am curious what people think of us. Don't hold back-you won't hurt my feelings.

I can vouch for the quality of the MIT chapter...I spent a weekend with most of the chapter at a leadership conference this summer...they were all SOOOO nice! I'm even on their website...and I don't even go there!
At Brown, as far as Greeks go, AXO is up there. There's only one other sorority, and all of the frats do stuff with both of us, so there's a lot of good will on the Greek end of things. As far as the majority of students go we (like all Greeks, for the most part) are seen as elitist and spoiled. We are definitely improving our image with independents--we've been heavily involved with groups that Greeks traditionally don't do stuff with. There were some girls a few years ago that tarnished our reputation, but we're coming back solid--doubling our pledge classes, having amazing rush parties...

Alright...i gotta say, this one hits home base with me BIG time...
I went out with an Alpha Chi for 1 1/2 years, which is pretty serious in "college time" Anyways, i thought her sisters were absolute bitches because they were totally into themselves and were backtalking skanks. Then i realized, it was only really HER pledge class, because the rest of them were sweethearts. And, much to my delight, besides that "bad seed" class, they've been great. They were parners with my boys in this years hoemcoming and they got first place. Very down to earth, cute, academically excellent, just a great house, i'm glad my opinion changed.

I'm an Alpha Chi at the University of Arizona and we just reorganized in the Spring of 2000. We were at 4 girls and now we are 50+. Last year we got the Deans Award For Excellence in the Greek Community. We got our house back this year and participated fully in formal fall recruitment for the first time in a couple of years. Our girls are really enthusiastic and dedicated to making this chapter what it was. We have no real rep yet, we're still the unknown but we are working hard to create a positive image for ourselves. Go ALPHA CHI!
