Big/Lil Question
Can some one please explain the role of a big and what their relationship with the lil is suppose to be. I think some of my sisters are confused about it. they don't want to develop a relationship with their lil where they are disrespected.

In my chapter, the big sister is supposed to be a mentor on all things Chi Omega. That is our main purpose. But this extends to many other things. In my chapter, a big sister is a guaranteed shoulder to cry on, and a person who looks out for you. She also introduces her little to older sisters and helps to integrate her into the sisterhood as a new member, so that when she is initiated she does not have a difficult transition from pledge to sister. The big sister is also supposed to be aware of their little's academic performance, make sure they are not ignoring scholarship. Being a big sister really is an all inclusive role! My big sister is one of the best friends that I have ever had. I have 2 little sisters from this fall's pledge class and we are becoming extremely close. Sometimes this isn't always the case. I know big/little pairings that aren't best friends or even good friends for that matter, but even within those pairings, there is always that guarantee of someone that you can go to if needed. I hope that helps, definitely feel free to PM me if you want to know more or if you want me to expand on anything I just said!

Thanks so much, this information is really helpful, I think I will print it and read it to my sisters. What do you also think about getting a lil that you already know. I am close to one girl in my pledge class, I mean i chilled with her before because we are on the gymnastics team together. Does that pose a problem? Or another sister her lil cousin is pledging and she does not want her cousin as a lil what do you think??
