I used to do aerobic kickboxing. It's like taebo in that there's no contact with other people. We did floor and bag work.
When I was trying to decide where to take classes I checked out a bunch of traditional kickboxing classes too. I definitely suggest taking the free introductory classes at as many places you can to get a feel for what/where you like.
My most important suggestion though is to listen carefully to the instructors and do your best to do what they say. Especially when it comes to pivoting on the ball of your foot. My knee has never forgiven me for not listening to that advice.

Very painful.
