Unhappy Is Chivarly dead?

I can't find the article, but in Charlotessville, VA some one was stabbed in the foot at a movie theatre when he wouldn't take his feet down off the back of someones chair/head/whatever. I think he had it coming. The guy who stabbed probably gets jail time, the jerk walks away.

Nah, just mis-spelt. Yep I know it's a typo but it's late and I couldn't think of anything else to joke on. I know the article, I saw it somewhere. I'll try and find it and edit it into this post.

Man stabbed in cell phone rage during horror flick
by Jennifer Rosinski Wednesday, October 15, 2003

Scream flick viewers witnessed some real-life violence Sunday when a Dorchester man stabbed a father whose sneakers were resting on the back of his seat - retribution for ignoring pleas to turn off his cell phone, police said.

"I guess you could call this phone rage,'' Randolph police Lt. Richard Crowley said. ``You have to obey movie house etiquette: Turn off your phone and don't put your feet up.''

It all began about 7 p.m. in the Showcase Cinemas on Mazzeo Drive when a Randolph girl put her feet up on the back of a movie theater chair, police said. A group of about five sitting in front asked her to take them down. She did.

They all settled in to watch "House of the Dead'' when Jose Pujols' cell phone started to ring, police said.

"The girl's father asked him to put his phone away and he wouldn't and they got into an argument. (The father) put his feet on the back of (Jose's) chair,'' Crowley said.

"Jose pulled out a knife, turned around and stabbed him in the foot.'' The 37-year-old man's sneaker got the brunt of the "large'' knife, later recovered in the 27-year-old Dorchester man's truck, police said. The victim said he'd seek medical attention on his own.

Pujols was hauled out of the movie theater lobby and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and marijuana possession.

Though, he doesn't walk away very well.

Seriously now, as rude as that man was, there was no need for violence... the stabber deserves what he gets.

I think the guy with knife overreacted, but still. And its obvious he's passing his bad manners on to his daughter.

People are just overprotective of their own feelings and inconsiderate of others these days. They feel like they must hit back every time they feel slighted. They need the upper hand in any perceived conflict -- a feeling of superiority.

This is like someone I encountered last night on the way home. I was driving home on a country road, totally out in the middle of nowhere. I encountered an old red fort pickup doing about 40 in a 55. So I passed him.

A few seconds after I had passed him, I guess he realized it, flipped on his brights and sped up to match my speed right off my rear bumper. I then proceeded to brake-check the SOB. I hate tailgaters

I mean, what did I do to him? Is it not reasonable to expect to be passed when you're going 15MPH under the speed limit? The world is too much like this. It's a cultural thing that I really can't understand.

Wow, I think they both sound like jerks and were both acting rudely. One thing's for sure; I would be shocked if dad ever puts his feet up on someone's seat at a movie theatre again!

This is an example of what NOT to do......you just did the very thing which you cited in your post:
"They feel like they must hit back every time they feel slighted. They need the upper hand in any perceived conflict -- a feeling of superiority".

Bearing in mind that I am a woman and you're not, I would probably let some person (who is probably an aggressive drunk) on a desolate country road pass me again. I would rather have them in FRONT of me than behind me.

If the Father deserved stabbing for putting his feet up, then the cell-phone guy at least deserves to have his phone broken.

I hate people that sit and talk on their cell phones in the movie. Anyone can forget to turn it off, but to sit and chat is just stupid.

Reminds me of a short tale in a listings book on law firms that was sent from to all campuses teaching law. Something like: A candidate for an interview in a firm had his/her phone ring (bad). He then took the call (worse). Next he asked the interviewer to leave the room so he could take the call privately (inexcusable). Interview and movie etiquette!
