Angry ICE CREAM Prices to Rise as well

I was just about to go and buy some more ice cream because it is too hot to eat anything else when I saw this article:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...t_licker_shock

Quote:
EXCERPT: A pint of Ben & Jerry's is going up 8 percent, the most in the company's 26 years. Klondike bars will cost 10 cents more per multipack, according to manufacturer Good Humor-Breyers Ice Cream.

The rising prices also are accelerating a recent trend — companies shrinking packages but keeping prices the same in what effectively is a net price increase. In January, Wilbraham, Mass.-based Friendly's rolled out its 56-ounce half-gallon tub — down from the standard 64 ounces — and this month increased its retail prices by 5 percent.
I love Ben and Jerry's but 8% is a LOT!!!!

Me too but on a happy note, I just came from Food Lion where they have Breyer's for $2.99 in the tub size not big tub but you know the family size one -- gallon, quart, something, lol. Yeah I am too lazy to walk to the freezer and tell you exactly what size.

I got the Heath Bar Crunch flavor which is my favorite of B&Js. B & J was 3.79 for that little one person size amount.

Dang! That's 'spensive!

Heath Bar crunch is my favorite B & J's but NOTHING, and I do mean nothing, beats Breyer's Butter Pecan!

So just like I have to drive to get to work, and pay these higher gas prices, guess I'll be paying exhorbitant (sp) prices for ice cream!

Oh well. I guess with ice cream prices on the rise too, that means I'll have no problem losing weight for the summer. If it costs too much, I won't be eating it! Slurpees for me!

Re: ICE CREAM Prices to Rise as well

It is probably increasing because MILK prices have increased because gas prices have increased because.....well, you get the point...

Yeah TJMS mentioned last week that they are paying the farmers to produce less milk.

My Breyers that I bought is 1.75 Quarts = $2.99

Angry Okay, I know there was another ice cream thread somewhere. . .

But anyway, hubby went ice cream crazy Sunday with 2 pints of Ben & Jerry's (vanilla heath bar crunch and butter pecan) and oreo ice cream sandwiches, klondike ice cream sandwiches and breyer's vanilla.

I was looking at the butter pecan label and saw where B & J will donate a portion of the proceeds from certain flavors to the Tom Joyner foundation. Don't know what other flavors you can buy to contribute, but go Ben & Jerry's crazy!

I wonder

If this also applies to Baskin-Robbins. Because I love Daquiri Ice (been eating it since 1969) and Margarita Ice. Ice cream, particularly a malt w/whipped cream on top, is a rare treat for me.

They only have Cherry Garcia and another flavor I don't like so I stock up on Cherry Garcia.
