Oshkosh - Fundraising

The Oshkosh Chapter has been working their butts off for the past 6 years, raising money for a new house. We are a young chapter, so our alumni base is small (173 total initiates now, including the 60 actives). Most of the money in our account has been raised by undergradutes throughout time, and the rest has been generously donated by alumni. As of today, we are at about 75% of our goal.

Our main fundraiser for the past 6 years has been working at Lambeau Field every GB Packer homegame. 10-12 guys drive up 6 hours before the game and cook all the food/drinks for the skyboxes and press boxes. This earns us about $4,000 a year.

This year the chapter has been working every Friday night, all day Sat. and all day Sun. at the WI Womens State Bowling Championship. This will earn us at minimum $7,000 at the end of May. (The guys love it, they get free food, drinks, tips and the women love the young 'frat guys'. They will also get a special thank you banquet at the end of the tourny).

Our next step is selling engraved bricks (similar to General) for our new house when we purchase it., to be placed in either a Walk-of-Fame or Patio. We will be targeting all of our alumni, all of our undergraduate parents, the sororities on campus, the General Fraternity AND other Beta Chapters.

We are considering a mailing to all Beta Chapters to see if they would like to purchase a brick. At a price of $100 for a 4x8 brick, or $150 for an 8x8 brick, do you think your chapter (or any chapter) would be interested in purchasing a brick, to send us on our way?

considering that our Foundation has more money than any other in the greek world, it is obvious that we Betas are not shy about helping our great and good fraternity! I would think that many Betas would be intersted in participating. The "brick" program at the GF has done amazingly well (especially if you offer a 3-step payment program or something else like that).

You should get a mailing list of all Betas living in Wisconsin since that is probably your most relevant "non Oshkosh" target group. The cost of materials and postage to all chapters and to selected groups of alums probably wont be more than a couple hundred bucks. Well worth it if you get even as few as 3 or 4 donors.

Also (and I'm sure youve probably thought of this already) be sure to add a little brochure or highlight sheet detailing the progress/awards youve gotten over the past couple years. That will probaly make it even more likely that people will help out.

I'd definetly say it would be worth sending to all the chapters


I'll bring this up at Chapter soon, but shoot me PM and give me some more details so that I can pass it on. I'd prefer to have something official if you have brochures drawn up.

I think that you should be able to get some chapters to help out, and once you do that you can re-send out to the remaining chapters sayign that your hoping they can join the rest...obviously if 25 chapters are doing it, that's going to convince others to do to. Once you get even more you can send it out again saying the 75 chapters are helping out and that you are hoping for a show of Beta spirit from all chapters. I think it would be really cool to have all our chapters and colonies provide bricks...almost a modern day Toronto Chapter Fund story!!!
