amalia, while i am not sure about the legacy connection, i think that both tri sigma and alpha xi delta would be delighted to learn of your familial connection to them, if the opportunity should come up in casual conversation. be sure to have your aunt write you a recommendation letter to alpha xi and ask your sister if one of the initiated sisters could do the same for tri-sigma. if there are any other sororities that will be holding events, i hope that you will check them out , too. and be sure to track down an alumna, or a collegian from those groups to write you a rec. i know that in my own sorority a collegian can write a rec. if she has an alumna sign with her. i can't say what the policy is for other groups. best wishes to you on finding your home. lisa

I'm sorry that your school doesn't have AGD. But coming from me... I would have your sister do as FSUZeta recommended, though colligates in AGD can write recs without an alum, as long as they have known them for a year.

Good Luck and I hope you find your home!

Here's another option to consider - have your AGD sister write a letter to panhellenic. I'm from a fairly small campus, and often I've seen members of other chapters not represented on our campus write a letter to panhellenic to distribute to all sororities about their family members or close friends. They basically follow a recommendation format, and include resumes. I'm not sure how well it would work at a bigger university, but at my small greek campus, we usually put some weight on getting a letter like that.

Definitely have you aunt write a rec. I think a lot of chapters consider nieces as "courtesy" legacies, or whatever you want to call it.

Word of advice: don't badmouth sororities on your campus. It'll come back to bite you in the ass.

There are folks from SRU on this board, there are folks that are advisors to chapters at SRU. It wouldn't be hard to figure out who you were. Those kind of comments on a public forum wouldn't sit well with anyone, not only AZD.

It is against NPC rules to tell someone that they're getting a bid. In fact, being a legacy does NOT guarantee that you'll get a bid or even invited to pref.

What she said!

Badmouthing sororities have hurt GC PNMs in the past. Think it doesn't happen?

Oh, it's happened...MORE THAN ONCE.

I just want to back up what kddani and OTW said...especially since SRU is a VERY VERY SMALL campus. I'm confused by which "they" said you were a legacy and would automatically receive a bid.

Out of curiousity, since you have two sisters who are involved with Greek life, have you asked them any of these questions?
