Thankful to Founders for ?

OK so this being Phi Sig's founding month..(coming up in a few weeks) AND Thanksgiving month, my chapter went and tied a ribbon to our tree after our meeting this evening.. (we have a tree dedicated to us on campus by the business building , it has a plaque next to it and everything) and each sister went through and said something about why we are thankful those 10 women got together and made this organization happen.

I am thankful that our founders created Phi Sig because it gives me a place of belonging on a campus where it's hard to meet people and where the ladies love me and support me whether I'm in the best mood ever, or in need of some cheering up. I am also thankful that Phi Sig has also given me challenges and opportunities which have helped me to learn about myself and help give me some of the tools to grow into the person that I want to be.

Awwww that is really cute, I'm gonna share too!We used to reflect back all the time considering we are 3 years old. (I'm in a local org)

I'm thankful for everything that our founders have done. the one thing that i love about being in a local is that i new everyone of our founders. My big was a founder!!!
They created our strong united group of girls all from scratch. I'm thankful for them for giving me the chance to meet some of my best friends, for giving me the chance to learn about myself in good times and bad, for letting me do what i love to do i was social chair and i absolutley love planning events and most of all for letting all of us be our own individuals but with a strong closeness.
There are so many more reasons too many to write down but without them i wouldnt be where i am today!

This is making me sad now cuz i'm no longer there. But it was nice to remember. Good idea glitter650

Great thread!!

I'm thankful to our founders for having the spirit and courage to create a sorority whose doors were open to ALL women who wanted to share in Service, Friendship and Equality.

Gamma Sig is young compared to others (51 years old) but these ladies got together in 1952--when some sororities were still very segregated--and created GSS. From our inception we have had a non-selectivity policy and I'm very proud of that.

GSS has opened MANY MANY doors for me, have helped my leadership skills and I have made many new friends--as well as lifelong sisters!

I could go on, but it would be a book! I love Gamma Sig

Cool

I love this thread!

I am thankful that our founders had such a strong vision for Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service. Also, I am thankful that most of our founders remained active throughout their lives, helping SGRho to grow across the US and beyond. I am thankful that one of our founders came to California and established a Grad chapter on the west coast. I also love my Sorors, and I continue to be amazed by all the wonderful things they accomplish as individuals, and in the name of Sigma. Keep that Sigma light shinning bright! E-yip!

I am thankful that in 1895 for a women's organization, our founders chose as one of our six purposes: CAREER DEVELOPMENT.

I am thankful for the belief that if the founders saw us today, they would be proud of the amazing organization that is Chi Omega. I am thankful that I have hundreds of thousands of sisters out there just because of the ambition of 4 women and 1 man! Go Chi O!

As a co-founder of my wonderful sorority (that will turn 8 this month), I know that without founders starting GLOs, they wouldn't exist. There would be no sisterhood/brotherhood. Networking would be something completely different. It doesn't matter if GLOs were founded 1, 10 or 100 years ago, we should be thankful for the hard work the founders put into establishing the organizations we are proud to be a part of. I want to take that a step further. Thank the founders of Phi Beta Kappa (the first ever GLO). Thank the founders of Chi Phi and Kappa Alpha (the first fraternities). Thank the founders of Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu (the first sororities). These men and women paved the road for all of us and they truly deserve our gratitude (sp?).

Anyway, all those are so sweet and I nearly cried reading them!

This is sweet.

I'm thankful the three founders of my fraternity focused on a gentler side of womanhood: love, honor, and truth, during a time when most young women saw each other only as competition for men and didn't go on to higher education.

I'm thankful that our founders were truly strong, intelligent, and forward thinking women. They created Alpha Omicron Pi over 106 years ago to celebrate their friendships with one another, now and for their lifetimes. The number of friendships which were born out of their love for one another is just mind-boggling and oh so glorious!

I am beyond thankful that the amazing women who founded my chapter offered me the opportunity to join in their friendships and in their sisterhood.

I'm thankful to my founders for being one of the first two groups of ladies to begin societies specifically for the sisterhood women provide. And having the foresight and courage and strength to start something that has blossomed into so many Greek societies.

I am not, however, thankful that they picked the color combination of pink and white. ;-)

Allison loves rose and white more than life itself. Once I saw her dressed in pink from head to toe, including a monsterous 80's style pink bow on her head.

You lying little Phi Mu. What happened to the "truth" part of our ideals, huh?

She never did. Though....I do wear pink quite often....But not with white ;-)

Thankful for.....

I am thankful that the founders thought to include the "average girl" in their planning for a fraternity. I definitely fall into this category.
