It Was An Honor
Skee-Wee Sorors!
This past weekend I had the distinct honor of having dinner with our 23rd Supreme Basileus, Soror Mary Shy Scott. The dinner was very informal and there were only 5 people there. Soror Scott, her husband, 2 other sorors and myself. Sorors I must tell you, Soror Scott is one of the classiest ladies that I have ever met. Not only is she classy, but she has to be one of the most down to earth and funniest persons as well. She was very open and made everyone feel extremely comfortable. I felt like I was with my grandmother or another family member. She schooled us on everything from the sorority and black history, to how to get and keep a good black man! She and her husband shared personal stories of their years together and kept us entertained throughout the entire dinner.
If you ever get the opportunity to meet her please do not hesitate to approach her and introduce yourself. She is truly an awesome and sweet person. I was so impressed with her and her concern, not just about the sorority, but about us as individuals and as young black ladies.
As we celebrate 93 years of sisterhood and service and as I approach my 1st anniversary as a member of this wonderful sisterhood, I am so proud and honored to be a part of it and to know that a true sisterly bond exists between the members.
Happy Anniversary Sorors!

Skee-Wee, Soror!
Wow! That is indeed an honor! Sorors that have met her all say the same thing. I, too, am proud to be part of such a great sisterhood with sorors like Mary Shy Scott and all of you.

Soror, she really is. I met her back in 93 for our (South Central) regional conference. My undergraduate chapter and other chapters served as hosts. She was very, very pleasant, kind, open, and classy. She was very receptive to all of us. It was an honor for me to have met her, then she was our SUPREME BASILEUS AT THAT TIME! So that is one of my many AKA HIGHLIGHTS...

PinkCashmere,
I must echo your comments. I have had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Mary Shy Scott on several occasions and you are right, she is a true LADY. I was once at a function surrounded by members who were introducing themselves to her. When I introduced myself, she incorrectly (or prophetically as I would like to think ) acknowledged me as a member of your sorority. After I corrected her, she did not change her demeanor one bit! She was still open, welcoming and embraced me as her Spelman Sister.
FYI... Sisterfriends who are interested in graduate membership: Dr. Scott was initiated in a graduate chapter. So much for those folks who will tell you that people initiated that way are not 'real' members!
