Roy from "Sigfried & Roy" Attack by Tiger

Tiger attacks Vegas magician during "Siegfried & Roy" show
The Associated Press
LAS VEGAS

A tiger attacked magician Roy Horn during a Friday night performance of "Siegfried & Roy" at The Mirage hotel-casino, authorities said.

Firefighters were called about 8:45 p.m. and found Roy had been "attacked at the throat" by a tiger during a performance, said Clark County Fire spokesman Bob Leinbach.

He was taken to University Medical Center. "He's at the hospital alive. What his status is now, I don't know," Leinbach said.

He's in critical but stable condition at UMC (University Medical Center) in Vegas. Shows cancelled until further notice.

I don't mean to sound rude, but DUH. If I were a tiger I'd attack one of those guys too.

I've read that he was slapping the tiger around before the tiger attacked. let see, slapping tiger = tiger attack. Common sense.

As of the morning news (7:00a.m.)

Roy was disciplining the tiger (taping him on the nose with the microphone and saying NO!) for not performing when the tiger turned on him and bit him in the neck and drug him off-stage. He is in stable, but critical condition.

If I can after work, I will update what is on the news here in Las Vegas.

He was probably trying to hump the beast.

Those two guys have become almost cliches -- but I saw the show several years ago, and it's pretty entertaining.

On the other hand, there's no way I'd get into a cage with wild animals on a daily basis.

Edited to correct typo.

I read about the attack in Yahoo. I read that he is in critical condition.

What was he thinking in hitting the tiger! Did he know that it is still a wild animal? I wonder if he had disciplined tigers like this before or this was the first time.

Exactly. I find it sad that in this day and age, anyone thinks it's appropriate to use wild animals for entertainment.

i don't believe in circuses or the nonsense that siegfried and roy do.

while it is unfortunate that he got hurt, what did he expect? this is a wild tiger that is forced to spend his life taking orders, performing in loud and bright conditions and not allowed to live his life.

wild animals should never be allowed as entertainment.

i'm still on the fence about zoos---if an animal is too hurt to ever be released to the wild, then i don't see a problem with keeping it at a zoo or sanctuary, but to take wild animals from the wild and bring them to captivity is just wrong

Ok, fair enough. Let's make a deal, okay?

Solve EVERY human problem. End poverty, end hunger, end war, end murder, end rape. End every single problem that plights us.

Then maybe I'll care about animals......
