Alpha Xi Delta at Cornell
My friends from campus told me Alpha Xi is coming to Cornell in Spring 2004?
Can anyone confirm? If so, congratulations!

Alpha Xi Delta at Cornell
DPhiEAngel,
We are currently looking to add a 13th house on campus, and yes Alpha Xi Delta is in the running, but there is no definite decision as of yet......all the houses have to vote still.
I will let you know what happens though!

Oh my ... wouldn't that be wonderful.... Cornell is Alpha Xi Delta's Alpha Beta chapter and was on campus 1918 thru 1964.
Please keep us up to date ... if and as you can.

The two houses that are in the running are Alpha Xi Delta and Phi Sigma Sigma...
I was there for the presentation this weekend and both groups did a really good job!
Alpha Xi Delta's Alpha Beta chapter left in 1964. Phi Sigma Sigma's Beta Xi chapter left in 1969. One other group was invited to present but could not make it.
We are waiting on pins and needles to hear the decision!! Good luck to both groups - Cornell has an absolutely incredible Greek system, and the sorority women there are amazing! It would be a wonderful opportunity for either group to have a re-charter their chapter on such a progressive and supportive campus!

Wow, they're looking to expand already? Didn't Chi Omega just leave campus?

I think it is great that the two groups under consideration had chapters there in the past. I know it can't always be that way. But I love to see chapters re-open, rather than new ones coming in. Gives me a good feeling.

Yes, they did just leave this past year. I also think another group on campus is pretty low in numbers, as well. I wonder what a new colonization would do to the now smallest chapter?

Having seen and met many of the women this weekend, my overall impression is that Cornell has a very supportive Greek system and all of the chapters truly do want the other chapters do to well.
Based on numbers alone, a new sorority is needed, but I definetly got the message that they are all doing whatever it takes to help the struggling chapter.

I like to see that kind of unity in a Greek system
I wish Delta Zeta would have considered trying to re-activate our Beta chapter at Cornell. It was founded by one of our Founders (not worded very well, but you get the point ).

Question for anyone: Why are they adding another sorority when one just closed and another has low numbers?
I visited Cornell many times when I was an undergrad. The campus is beautiful and has amazing fraternity and sorority houses. I hope that all the chapters thrive there.
