Who has time for Kids? I'm an Advisor
Just joking!!
Even though I went to Cton Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun plus going back tomorrow for video night, lol.
I definitely appreciate any alumnae with or without s/o and/or kids/animals that give of their time to our Fraternity!!
I esp. thank my hubby for letting me do this...as if he could stop me I tell him this way we can experience a younger person's college experience without footing the bill

I'm divorced with children. Shannon is 9 (10 in January) and Nathan is 7 (8 in March). As of right now, Shannon definitely wants to be an Alpha Gam and Nathan has asked if he can be one too.. lol. I told Nathan about fraternities and his grandpa (my dad) was a TKE so he's a legacy too!
I'm also a volunteer for AGD and have been since the year I graduated (1987). I took 1999 off because I was changing careers and HAD to get some courses finished but jumped right back in. I did find that when I had my children I had to move to the VST level instead of working directly with the chapters as an advisor. It was easier because you can do most VST stuff at midnight if necessary, whereas working directly with a chapter, you have to follow their schedule for meetings, events, etc.
mu.. There are volunteer opportunities even if you're not in close proximity to a chapter. You should get a volunteer interest form (if your address is up to date with IHQ) in the mail annually. Be sure to fill it out! I am very lucky to be in the middle of large numbers of AGD Chapters but there are volunteer positions that can be done "from afar" and if you do have to travel to a chapter, as long as it is approved, it is paid for. There are also Alumnae Chapters and Clubs to be involved in or to START! I was amazed at how close I've become to my AGD sisters from the alumnae club who are from a wide variety of chapters.

ETA: I have a dog too! How could I forget about Samantha, the blind 3 year old Alaskan Malamute (with separation anxiety issues)!

thanks, i'll have to keep an eye out for that! there is an alumni chapter in the area, but unfortunately they are not too active, and when they do do things, they are mostly out near where the chapter is. and since i don't have a car, it makes that difficult for me. but i did meet a girl on the street wearing letters and stopped her to say hi, so we've become friends and i've met a bunch of other girls from her chapter through her!

I rarely post on here, but I read the boards every day. I am married. I have a 4 year old daughter named Haley, and my husband and I are expecting our second legacy any day now!

I am single and still waiting for my prince. Although I think that I found him. He just doens't know it yet. What really sucks is that I have no way to contact him anymore. I guess if it is meant to be out paths will cross someday. Most importantly I have a 2 year old boy. His name is Brayden.
