Unhappy dissapointment

So I was reading a thread and i noticed that a girl was not takin because of her grades. I read on to see that she has been working hard on getting her GPA up and beacuse of a few bad semesters her cum. gpa was low.

I have that exact same problem and believe me once you have fallen it is hard to raise that GPA. You almost have to pull a 4.0 for the rest of your college life to get it higher.

I know certain orgs, have a gpa requirement but it dissapoints me to read a story like this know that i have to potential to go through the same thing. I dont think its fair, and it really lowers my self esteem when people say that you cant join something because of your grades. Instead people should realize the potential someone has and take them in to help them not push them away.

But i know GLOs do what they do. Its just a thought that has been on my mind.

I know it's a little disheartening to read about when a potential new member is not offered a bid because of their grades. I know that it my chapter's case, we normally didn't want to subject the PNM to the possibility of the stress of going through New Member Education having a negative effect on their grades, which would drop their GPA even further. Being in a GLO is a great thing, but the different events and things involved in becoming a member may take their toll on an individual. I know in my case, the semester I first joined ADPi, my GPA dropped significantly because of the additional demands on my time as well as some other contributing factors.

I think the chapter may have the girl's best interests at heart....after all, most of us did go to college in order to get a degree, not to be social and join organizations.

Unfortunately when the GPA is too low, they run the risk of being expelled or having their financial aid revoked. I have seen three newly initiated sisters have to withdraw from college as a result of low GPAs. It is very sad.

I hope that you are able to raise your GPA to the point where you can pledge.

i understand that glos want the best for people and thier own organizations my dissapointment is more for people like the girl in the thread i have read and myself. When i was at my old college i admit i messed up majorly. I dont know how i ever stayed there for 3 years, i had withdrawls not only from a single class but from a whole semester. But towards the end of my time there i worked my but off trying to get my GPA up. My grades were good. But because of my immaturity as a freshmen in college it lead me to a really extremely low cum. GPA. And it didnt balance out...not yet. So because of academics and personal reasons i have moved back home..this is a whole nother story involving certain sisters just not being there...and since i have been home i have been doing awesome. Currently i'm only taking 6 units at a JC but i'm getting good grades!! and next semester I'm going to take 12 units and in the fall I'm transfering to SF State, i just got my letter!! So i'm excited.

But anyway it just kills me to know that all the effort i have put into school now might not pay off. I'm older and i understand the point of getting good grades where as when i was 18 i was so wrapped up into being in college. I just hope that this is taking into consideration not just for me but for other girls too.

Oh I'll be transfering as a junior with an interest in rushing, i was in a local org but thats something away form academics so look for that thread coming soon, its kinda sad but good too!
