Favorite Memory!!!
I've noticed a lack of Sig Kap posting on our very own board, so I thought I'd just ask a question:
I just had to know - what is your fondest Sigma Kappa Memory?
I'll start:
I never went through formal Rush, but a friend of mine in the dorm invited me down for like 3 days straight after bid day. It felt like home from the moment I walked in. I remember 2 wonderful women (SUPER SIGMA's) who made me feel the most welcome, and when I was extended a bid, they were the ones to give me my invitation! I still remember jumping up and down, laughing and crying all at the same time with them just because I was so happy and so happy it was them!
Cheesy, I know, but a good one! What's yours?

My favorite Sigma Kappa memory was the night that we found out who our "mom" was. It was such a beautiful little ceremony. I love the song that they sang to us while the "moms" grabbed their respective "dot" from the circle. It was the first time I had really felt that I was a part of Sigma Kappa and a sorority at large.

Ok, I know that there are other SigKap's on this board! C'mon out! We'd love to hear from you. Shopgirl, sometimes I think that we are the only ones!

Choosing one particular memory is nearly impossible, but I'll try.
I'm gonna go with the last day/night of I-week. My class and our new member ed just talked basically all day. I'm not a cryer....I don't think my best friends have seen me cry, but I actually sobbed. It was really nice to realize I really do have a group of people I can do anything around and they won't judge me for it. Everyone really opened up that day and I can't imagine what it would be like had that day never happened.
This year the girls are fighting it and dont' want to go, but we know they will, and then they'll be in this position next year saying it was their best memory.

Choose just one?? Impossible!!
But I suppose my very favorite memory was the night I got my bid. The woman who gave actually gave me my invitation became a very special friend to me, and I will never, ever forget how unbelievably thrilled I was to be offered such a wonderful opportunity.
Of course, my favorite memories also include the everyday little stuff, like how much I love going to get a coffee with any of my sisters, formals, having lunch, study breaks, midnight phone calls, cheerup sessions, etc. etc. etc. My chapter has a great sisterhood, and I wouldn't give it up for the world.
Sorry so cheesy....I'm having an Oh-my-god-I'm-a-senior-and-I-have-to-leave-all-this crisis.

awwww!!!! Kelliebeans, I'm sorry.
I know how you feel. It's funny b/c it's hard to pick one favorite memory. Truthfully, my favorite times at Sigma Kappa were the nights I had phone duty during my first semester. I had Tuesdays from 7-9. Now, Party of Five was on during this time, so I would try to watch it in the t.v. room and would have to run to the foyer to answer the phone. It was pretty funny. Also, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire would be on afterwards. So, I would do the same thing. Sometimes I would sit at the phone desk and just listen to WWTBAM from our House Mom's suite. Those were fun nights to me. I know that sounds silly, but it was meaningful.

My favorite memory of Sigma Kapp sorority is when my fraternity and I sang Happy Birthday to my gf(and chapter president) at one of their meetings (it was all pre-arranged, no worries) You all should have seen the look on her face, priceless. I also made a cake for her and the chapter.

I think that my favorite memory was this years formal. It was such a beautiful night and was even better because my b-friend (SAE) asked me if he could pin me!!!

OK. I have another favorite memory for you guys! My formal was this past Friday, and it was the best night ever, and the best formal I've ever been to.
Congrats on getting pinned!! I'm waiting....semi-patiently.....

just one?
my favorite sigma kappa memory would have to be getting my big and getting my little. i love my big sister to death and know i would be lost without her. i can't belive she's leaving me in one year, i am freaking out. i remember EXACTLY how nervous i was before revealing because all week she lied to me so i convinced myself i didn't have her. i was SOOOO excited when it was her i cried! and then of course i had to do the same thing to my little. i feel so blessed to be in such an awesome organization and able to share it with so many wonderful ladies.
but i think my other favorite memory would be when i found out i made rho chi and my best friend went to panhellenic with me and when i found out we both started screaming and jumping up and down like fools! then she decorated my room and the sidewalks(with chalk) all over campus for me!
i love all my sisters so much!
sigma love and mine,
melissa

*Bump* Great thread!!!!
I know I have a lot of 'favorite' memories, but I'll start off with one of the best:
Like a few other sisters have said, I didn't go through formal rush - - COB all the way for me...And even then I didn't want to do it. In any case, I got coerced into going to a COB event (Picture-frame-making - - AND WE DIDN'T EVEN DO IT 'CUZ I WAS THE ONLY COB THERE!!! )...It was a pretty good time, even though it turned into the Amy Show b/c I was the only cob there, for one, and for two - - I didn't think about it and HAPPENED to wear lavander and maroon !!! Oy vey. In any case, I got invited (read: dragged) to help raid the FIJI house....I felt pretty special because they don't normally, on our case, take new membersthat haven't even been given a bid yet - - but they were adimate about me going!! We had the best time, shopping for the stuff, raiding the house, talking to the cops ( ), and taking all kinds of pictures afterwards. That was my first experience with the group-at-large of SK at Ball State, and I woudln't trade it for the world. Perhaps I'll post one of the pictures some time.

yeah we need to update this thread.
my favorite sigkap memory would probably be when i walked into initation and opened my eyes.
the most bittersweet memory was going through order with my entire chapter and having a lot of alumnae i knew come back to participate.

so many to choose from, but one that really stands out was greek week. so my first semester of pledging i didnt really get to socialize with anyone outside of meetings and i promised myself that the spring semester it would be different. i started coming around to more events and started calling girls to hang out, cuz i wanted something more. eventually i couldnt go anywhere without a sister.
anyways.....greek week was coming around and we really wanted to win, because our dedicated seniors realy wanted it and we wanted to end the other sorority's winning streak. those long nightes of just coming up with ideas, making props, working on the skit and telling stories made me realize our sisterhood was strong, because we really needed it to get through an exhausting week of activities. i learned a lot from girls who i really feel i didnt know. we became like a close nit family with the fun and hard times. in the end it really paid off, because not only did we kick a$$ in the skits we also took home the greek week trophy!!! you should have seen the look on the other sorority's faces. they were all disgusted and mad we took home both. it was priceless. i really got to understand how important sisterhood is to a sorority. sigma kappa has changed my life in so many ways and i couldnt think of a life without it.

oh yeah, a couple more
1. night before i got my bid, i saw my big and grandbig uptown and got to dance and be drunk with them before i even knew we were going to be sisters.
2. sisters of the round table - a group of us who got together in the suite between classes right around lunch time. we would all get lunch and sit in the suite to watch 'passions'. it was great.
