I saw the Video Tape yesterday on the News. I don't know if I should really feel sorry for him.

I feel bad for Rush. His comment on McNabb was true. He's totally overrated simply because he's a black quarterback, likewise with Eli Manning whos white. I don't think he should have lost his job at ESPN (And yes, he was forced to resign).
On the note of his drug addiction, I can relate. I have friends that are addicted to painkillers as well as narcotics. It's a nasty experience. Lorcet, Lortabs, Perkecet, Oxycotin, Morphine pills, Viks....they're all pretty shitty to deal with once you start taking them for a week or two. I almost had a hard time with Zanex.....the yellow bars. Those are almost the strongest Zanex they make ( these were bars, not footballs). I woke up one day after eating two yellow bars and snorting 3. I tried to remember what I did the previous 2 days, I couldn't tell you one thing I did in the prior 48 hrs. My cell phone had 27 missed messages. I had 3 new statues in my apartment that apparently I bought. I was missing 700$, there were bras lying around all through my apartment and all my food was eaten out of my fridge. Talk about being cracked out, I felt so ashamed. Should I have went to rehab? Maybe. Did I? No. How am I now? Drug free. What made me stop? The thought of my parents being disappointed in me and the cracked out feeling I had after the two days. Should Rush go to rehab? No. I think he's doing it to polish up his image. Its my opinion that if its someone will to stop, they can. Unless you're a heroin addict, you don't need rehab. On the other hand, doing certain drugs can cause people to get so depressed that they need some sort of outside help. I had a friend that was addicted to GHB and blew his brains out 1 1/2 months ago. The last time I talked to him was 3 months ago. I asked him how he was doing, he said he was going through some crapp and still addicted to GHB. I didn't think much of it. But he did seem a little depressed. I found out last month that he blew his brains out. I was overcomed with chills that lasted for a day. Drugs are just bad period, I don't care what people say or what I used to think. They're bad period. I had another friend of mine who died about a month earlier than my other friend. He OD'ed. The last time anyone saw him alive, he had a big Folgers coffee can of Cocaine and a bottle of Scotch that he was drinking straight. A few days later we found out he was dead. We all worked for him at the 4 clubs he owned in our college town. I'm just glad I chose to go another route than the drug route. I take my anger and pain out in the gym, I also let the massage lady relieve all my stress.
Anyways, I hope Rush makes it out ok. I'm sure he will.

Do I feel sorry for him? Hell no!
Mr. "People who get drugs illegally or use drugs should be in jail" (his quote)
I think homeboy needs a little practicing of what he preached!
On the other hand I do hope he kicks his addiction. Any type of addiction can be a b*tch.
(Coming from someone who quit her pack a day of Marlboro Lights habit cold turkey)

This is a guy that used to preach against drug use and people with addictions. Just another example of a conservative not practicing what they preach.

I did not see the video. Did he ask people to feel sorry for him? I did hear a cut where he said he was not a victim of anything. Sounds like he is taking responsibility for his actions. People who like him will probably continue to like him and those who don't will increase their disdain. Addiction can happen to anyone. Especially an addiction like this, which began as legitimate, Dr. prescribed use.

I feel bad for anyone with an addiction - hopefully he gets the help he needs. Am I a Rush fan? Not especially, but as a human being I hope he turns out ok.
The McNabb comment - well, Rush is entitled to his opinion, but to base it on race is ridiculous. What about Jake Plummer? What about Rob Johnson? These are guys who have had verbal bouquets tossed their way, and they're as white as the day is long. While Philly's defense has been sick, there's no way they're the team they are if Donovan isn't there. If he's overrated at all, it's because people factor in the fact that he's one of the toughest QBs in the league (along with McNair).

"Kordell" McNabb is way o.v.e.r.r.a.t.e.d.
Since McNabb came into the league the Eagles offense has sucked. Philadelphia's strength is their defense and special teams. Over the last 3 years their top scorer has been their kicker, David Ackers. The Eagles went 5-1 last year when McNabb was hurt.

Yeah, you know so much about him...why don't you try and get his name right!

Heh heh heh
Call me evil...but I was THRILLED to see this in the news.
I'm not thrilled Rush is addicted -- that's a rough situation I wouldn't wish on anyone -- but as long as he is, I'm thoroughly enjoying the fact that it's being publicly exposed, revealing the hypocrisy of ANOTHER archconservative. This isn't quite as delicious as Bill Bennett the compulsive gambler, which he forgot to mention in his "Book of Virtues," but it still made my day to read about it.
Oxycontin is synthetic heroin. It's a controlled substance, and abusing it is illegal. The bottom line is that Rush is a junkie just like every junkie he's mercilessly attacked in his long career. He's advocating throwing them in jail, he's ridiculed them for their lack of "personal responsibility," he's accused liberals of coddling them, he's shown them no pity and no mercy and no understanding...and he ain't getting any from me. All he's getting from me is a thank-you for discrediting himself.

Actually, I think he's more of a libertarian. He believes that people should be responsible for their own actions.
