Over the last several weeks/months we have had several 'flaming' topics that touched on peoples religious convictions--abortion, single mothers, teen mothers, homosexuality, women in the pulpit, etc. Without fail, people who came down on the 'conservative', for lack of a better word, side of things were admonished for being judgmental, self righteous, and plain ol' unChirstlike. This caused me to do some self examination (and a brief Bible study) to see if I was ('cause I was one of those folks) indeed being judgemental and this is what I found. I hope you will read and receive in the spirit of love that it is given.
Most folks quoted, in part, Matthew 7:1 "Juged not, lest ye be judged" However, I think it is important to also look at a statement Jesus made regarding judging in John 7:24 "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." In addition, Paul states in 1 Corinthians 5:12-13 "For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person."

I look at all of these passages and say that as Christians we cannot judge the hearts of others because we do not know their motives or intentions and we should not base things on how we think they 'look' (i.e. so and so is immoral because she did XYZ). We also should not judge people on things that we are doing. That is the ultimate hypicrocy (sp?). We should however, 'judge righteous judgement' those that are 'within' (i.e. other Christians). What I understand righteous judgement to mean is that we judge by a righteous standard and the only one righteous is the Father. So, as a Christian I should use the standard set by the Father and given to me in His Holy Word to judge other Christians. I cannot use it to judge those that are not Christians. As a Christian it is wrong for me to see sin and not speak against it.
I believe you are Eclipse
I totally agree with this statement. Me being a "victim" of such attacks see how others can get offended, but in the same token I am merely stating opinion in many of these forums that deal with the subsequent subjects. I too has had to re-evaluate myself, I did LOTS of prayer and I have come to the conclusion that I am on the right track... I'm am glad you cleared up Matthew 7:1. Like I said earlier this phrase deals with being hypocritical, and if anyone thinks that I have been hypocritical, unrightly jugemental, you may email me...

Eclipse I am glad you said that "As a
Christian, it is wrong for me to see sin and not speak against it." I have said this before and I stand firm with it to the day I die. I have understand people sin (Including MYSELF) and have that sinful nature, I will not be a person to condone sin in our world (And in myself) We all struggle with sin!! I know many are not living the Christian life, as Christians it is our job to preach the gospel and to help save souls of those who are willing (And not so willing if we can.) So in the future when one of theese "controversial" boards comes up (And there will be some) please I have asked this of my self to:

1. Be considerate and patient with other people situations and stories (inclding those that have different beliefs than you) but not deviating fom your opinion. I know this walk is hard but in the same token if there is something I disagree with I can state it without being bombarded with negativity???

2. When we deal with hypothetical questions, we all have the right to voice our subsequent reaction without being disrespectful and nasty. You should all know that when you ask a question your gonna get a plethora of answers, so don't be suprised by any of them, and if you want to respond, so do in any manner that toots your horn, it is up to madame moderator AKAtude to erase or not...

Also decided against not posting here at greekchat anymore, for my own reasons. You may email me at diva@ny.com if you have any questions about my decision. I feel it is in the best interest of my walk with God to do so. (Take it for what you want... I am not by any means assulting anyone Christiandom by just you merely chatting here, but the Holy Spirit has convicted me and for those purposes I am doing so.)

Well that's all I have to say,
Please remember that Jesus Loves You and He is the reason for the season,

Respectfully Yours,
Diva_56

Post Judging

Over the last several weeks/months we have had several 'flaming' topics that touched on peoples religious convictions--abortion, single mothers, teen mothers, homosexuality, women in the pulpit, etc. Without fail, people who came down on the 'conservative', for lack of a better word, side of things were admonished for being judgmental, self righteous, and plain ol' unChirstlike. This is my understanding of those scriptures. I welcome all comments!!

Take this how you will...

"Some people are so heaven-bound that they are no earthly good..."

I don't know the author of this statement, but after reading this thread, and the volumes of people's messages about how right they are in pointing out the wrong of other folks' actions, I was moved to think of this phrase, which I just recently read.

*Perhaps going to hell, but waiting on GOD's answer on this and other pressing questions on Judgement Day*

I didn't get into any of the debates, but I did want to leave one thing...not to start another "war", but just to get some people to understand:

Ezekiel 3
16
At the end of seven days the word of the LORD came to me:
17
"Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.
18
When I say to a wicked man, `You will surely die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.
19
But if you do warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his evil ways, he will die for his sin; but you will have saved yourself.
20
"Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before him, he will die. Since you did not warn him, he will die for his sin. The righteous things he did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.
21
But if you do warn the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he will surely live because he took warning, and you will have saved yourself."

Some people do believe that God has commanded us to tell people..."warn" them, if you will, about their "wicked" ways. It does not mean that we are perfect and don't need to constantly warn ourselves about our own shortcomings. I really haven't seen one lady on this board who is intentionally trying to hurt anybody else, have you? So instead of taking offense, realize that the other person loves you, is doing what they believe is right, and has your best interests at heart.

Question

WOW............JUST WOW...................I MEAN WOW.....................................

People will always judge, generalize, assume, and condemn. We are all guilty of it in some form or another. I have a hard time believing (as someone said) that on this board the things people say are out of love and concern "so do not take offense". UH-UH If people were that concerned and really cared then they would offer more understanding as opposed to the attitudes SOME take like some are not worthy of certain things because of personal issues that nothing to do with those that are doing the judging. Also its hard for those of us that SIN not to be a bit dismayed at those that come on here and post things as IF they do not SIN as if THEY are so HOLIER than THOUGH. The thing is since a lot of us do not know each other personally of course people can come on here and front! It is not my place nor anyone elses to WARN someone of their wicked ways see, God can handle that also. Especially since I am just an imperfect human being who is subject to what someone may consider "wicked ways" at any time (as you all are too). I could care less if people want to front, judge or whatever. What bothers me is how some people feel they can judge someone elses worth or abiltiy to perform etc. at any task etc. based on bad choices they may have made (past tense) before in their life. When judgement day does come around (for those who that even exist for)God will save those who he feels has served him adequately. It could be a virgin, a married woman, a homsexual, or a single woman with six kids, as long as they have repented and are not practicing those deeds anymore he will judge them all equally. He can read peoples hearts. There are some people who are so called living right (whatever that means) just because it is expected of them, their heart is not even in it they just do it because it "looks" good, thats false worship, he sees that too. So see its not about what you HAVE done, in some cases it is no about what you are "DOING", it is about your faith, your fear, your accepttance, and your love for God if all that is true and in place he will guide you the rest of the way. He knows we are capable of sin and he knows we will commit sin, that is why his son died for our sins, to allow us a chance to recover from our mistakes. That is what being human is all about.......All that other mess is for the birds
