Founders Day

Ladies, as you know (or should), Founders Day is coming up. We're 129 years young this year! What does your chapter do that is special to celebrate?

Edited because I don't know where to put apostrophes.

and now to answer my own thread...

My alumnae chapter is celebrating FD on the 9th at a hotel, we're doing the standard ceremony and I believe some sort of brunch as well. This will be my first event with them, since I've had to work the rest of the time. I'm really excited to meet the ladies and get more involved.

My collegiate chapter always dresses up and does the ceremony as well. It's really cool to see all the girls walking around campus on what's usually a gross day in nice clothes and their badges, and we get a lot of questions about it. I'm still going to dress up this year even though I'm not there anymore.

Because they don't have school on the 11th, the collegiate chapter of Delta Lambda won't have meeting on the 10th, so we celebrated FD early with the alums and collegians. It was simple this year: about 12 alums and the majority of the collegiate chapter went to El Torito and had a nice dinner. Typical ceremony, lots of news to be shared with my sisters (at least on my behalf... I guess we were just gossiping!), and introductions of our new members. They're so awesome!

I'm looking forward to next year when we do the regional FD again!

We'll celebrate on the 9th. Ever since I was initiated (November 1999), the EI chapter has always done the Founder's Day ceremony with EVAC (Eastern Virginia Alumnae Chapter) and it was usually at a room on campus or some place in the area that EVAC rented. But this will be our third year celebrating with EVAC and the AX chapter (at William & Mary). Since 2001, it's become a larger event in which the two collegiate chapters get together with the alumnae chapter and have some food, perform the ceremony and just talk to each other.

It's really nice to be able to share Founder's Day with another collegiate chapter because it just makes you realize that Gamma Phi Beta is more than just the chapter on your campus and that even though these women are strangers, you still share that bond of sisterhood.

And it's nice to spend Founder's Day with the alumnae as well (which I'm now one of) because it goes to show that Gamma Phi Beta doesn't end with graduation. It also helps collegians to interact with alumnae so that the transition from one to the other is easier.

Well, our chapter celebrated this morning. Unfortunately, I was still on a plane flying back from my vacation.

Happy Founders (no apostrophe) Day Everyone!

in IIKE,
Melanie

I dont understand how many people are Anti-Greek. Shouldnt time itself be proof enough that members of Greek organizations are among the Best and Most Elite in this world.
being on this board gives me the chills, no matter if I'm reading about the Flu. I'm proud to be a ZETA!

We're (the ET chapter) celebrating (as a chapter) on the 15th, and I'm not sure what goes on, because it'll be my first Founders Day! I know we have a lunch, and ceremonial type stuff.

Tomorrow, we're all dressing up, and right now, I'm so proud to be a Gamma Phi. It's exciting!

The Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter will be celebrating Founders Day this Saturday with the EZ chapter from JU. I haven't heard any of the finalized plans, yet, but I am sure that it will be wonderful.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it, as I have a previous engagement in Athens, GA, known as the Georgia-Auburn game
