Talking MTV's Wuthering Heights

Can I just say that I've never used half a box of tissues while watching a made for t.v. movie? Especially one done by MTV. Has anyone seen it?

I caught the tail end of it when they got married, and i cried my eyes out at the end. That was so sad!!! I hope they show it again cause I want to see the whole thing.

I missed the very first of it - but I liked it!! I must have tried a dozen times to read Wuthering Heights. This was the first time I could actually stick with and follow the story.

When who got married?

I've read Wuthering Heights twice in a desperate attempt to try to like it. I only remember the one marriage w/ Catherine and the neighbor.

I only caught the last 15 minutes of it, looked pretty intense, I liked the song that that guy was singing. I definitely want to catch the re-run.

Oh, so they decided to mess with a classic story... Why to pull a Kenneth Branagh and add something (like he did in Hamelt with his extra scene...that irriated me to say the least)

If that's what they did, let me just say that's not cool.

i think MTV did an excellent job with this movie. i'm even considering purchasing the soundtrack (the song "Crumble" has been stuck in my head for the past week).

i don't think the modernization of the story took away from the book / original storyline.

Thumbs down

I don't know what it was, but for some reason I didn't care for MTV's remake too much...Maybe not b/c it was modernized, but b/c of the way it was modernized (like I didn't really connect with it) . The original (the book), which I read in like 9th grade of High School, was so much better, in my opinion (but maybe that's b/c I've always been sort of a "tortured soul" who feels tings very deeply)...

I'm one of those people who have always tried to read the book and never got anywhere. Now because of the tv movie I know I have too. It may not be as modern but the story line will still be great.

And I LOVE that song "Crumble" too. . .and what's the other song with the chorus "And I need all the love I can get. . ." That song gave me the shivers.

And that guy from Malcolm in the Middle scared me with the telescope thing and how they would zoom straight to his eye. . .especially at the end because I wasn't expecting it.

I thought it was really good, and watchable, especially considering it was a TV movie for MTV. But I've never read the book.

Ugh, I REFUSED to watch this debacle. I love Wuthering Heights and I didn't want to see it ruined by craptastic MTV.

Read the book, people; it's much better!!! (And if you can't get through the book, at least read the Cliffs Notes so you can see what it's supposed to be about.)

(edited because I apparently forgot how to use vB code in my outrage about MTV )

I agree w/ you...

Read the book, I cannot begin to imagine MTV doing it quite as well. If you want to see a movie, go see Veronica Guerin when it comes out. I remember hearing about her in the 90's and she basically stopped Dublin from being over-run by druglords. I have read a few articles aboput her too, it is going to be one of Cate Blanchett's best performances.

I could NOT get through the book when I tried to read it (part of that may have been that it was 9th grade and I hated reading anything that I HAD to read...) and I semi-enjoyed the MTV production - more than I thought I would, anyway. But Heath just bugged me - I wanted her to end up happily ever after with the rich guy.

But that's just me... at the end of Sweet Home Alabama, I'm upset that she doesn't go with the politician (he's so wonderful!).

i'm a shallow, self-centered brat as well
