Hello ladies. I just wanted to drop a little bit of positivity on the board, 'cause we can always use some more positivity.
From 10/7 through 10/9, Iota Epsilon Chapter had our first ever Xi Man competition. 9 of the 13 fraternities on campus participated in the three day event. The first day we had the gentlemen bring in their sash and coin jug. The coin jug ran for all three days of the event. The second day, we had the gentleman street performing in 2 different spots on campus. Day three was the actual competition, structured similarly to a beauty pageant. We started with 9 for talent and eveningwear, cut to 5 for etiquette, and the final 3 for interview. Day three we also held a silent auction with baskets that the sisters and fraternity gentlemen had made. The gentleman from Pi Kappa Alpha was our XiMan, and the gentlemen of Phi Delta Theta won the overall event, taking 5% of the overall earnings of the event to go to their philanthropy. With the efforts of these gentleman, Iota Epsilon chapter was able to raise nearly $1800 for our local philanthropy, Generation Hope, an organization devoted to helping Las Vegas valley children with cancer. Generation Hope was established by Holly Walker, a student of Green Valley high school in Henderson, NV, a large suburb in the Greater Las Vegas area. So that's my bit of positivity for the day. I am incredibly happy and satisfied with the way the event went on. Our philanthropy chair is awesome. We had a lot of participation from the fraternities, and the gentleman all said that they had great fun doing it. The actual show night was open to all UNLV students and the general public. We had support from the other sororities on campus as they came to the show.
It was a good few days.
