Unhappy GIants Fan Falls To his Death

http://www.kron4.com/Global/story.as...4&nav=5D7iI02w

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A fan fell to his death from the elevated right-field wall at Pacific Bell Park on Wednesday night, shortly before the San Francisco Giants clinched the NL West title.

According to witnesses, the unidentified man attempted to climb down the outside of the outfield wall to retrieve something he dropped onto the walkway 24 feet below during the eighth inning. He slipped and fell, according to Giants vice president of communications Staci Slaughter.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene, but the fan died from his injuries, Slaughter said. San Francisco police didn't immediately phone calls seeking comment.

"As far as we're concerned, it was an accident," Slaughter said. "It's just a tragedy."

The incident is the first death at Pacific Bell Park since it opened in 2000. The right-field wall borders McCovey Cove, where well-hit homers land in the water.

The Giants and their fans were unaware of the accident as they celebrated their division title moments later.

PARK DEATH VICTIM IDENTIFIED
SAN FRANCISCO(BCN)

The San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office this morning has identified the man who fell to his death during a San Francisco Giants baseball game at Pac Bell Park Wednesday night.

The Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as 35-year-old Todd Edward Adams. Adams was reportedly originally from Hawaii, but was more recently living in Santa Cruz.

Police say Adams dropped his sunglasses while walking along the arcade area during the bottom of the eighth inning Wednesday night. The glasses fell about 25 feet and a homeless man grabbed the glasses and yelled up to Adams that he would hold onto the glasses until Adams was able to get down to the port walk below to get them.

Police say Adams reportedly climbed over the hand railing and tried to jump onto a light fixture so he could jump down to the port walk below. Adams slipped and hit his head. He died at San Francisco General Hospital.

I read about this in Yahoo. It is a very sad tragedy! My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

one less californian.

hopefully he was a gray davis supporter.

and by the way, THIS is not a tragedy. A tragedy is a car wreck, i.e. a sober driver killed by a drunk driver, a plane crash, an unprovoked murder.

THOSE are tragedies. This is one idiot who probably watched too much Jackass and whom we're better off with not contaminating the gene pool.

THAT'S BS.

Hundreds of thousands of fans attend sporting events every year and are all able to consume alcohol without throwing themselves off of a ledge.

Just because this guy is an idiot doesn't mean the rest of us should have to suffer. Peddle your communism somewhere else.

Don't try to tell me that you've never done anything that could have gotten you killed while drinking. I've done plenty of stupid drunk things that could have easily gotten me killed -- the difference between me and this guy is that I've always had enough good luck to escape that fate. I'm sure that if you drink enough, eventually you'll meet a similarly unfortunate end.

Everybody gets stupid when they drink. You're not an exception to that rule.

i know i'm not. But, i've always had the common sense to limit my consumption in public places. I'm sure that there are lots of Americans that, just like me, are perfectly capable of going to a baseball game, enjoying 2 or 3 beers, and being legally sober enough to get themselves home safely afterwards

More than this guy being drunk, he was an idiot. That's why he's dead. Noone forced him to consume any beer. If he drank too much and thought he was superman, it's his own damn fault, not the beer vendors. Just like tobacco. Noone forces you to smoke. If you smoke, you understand that there's a chance you could die, but Camel's not going around sneaking cigs into your mouth at night to secretly get you hooked.

KS 361 days my life will probably be cut short by my drinking, but hey, they're the worst days right? the ones at the end

Messed up, but funny.

I highly doubt anyone (let alone ESP) outside this guy's family and friends will actually pray let alone "think" about this guy.

Optimist, where are you?

lol kitso

1) I've been against Gray Davis ever since he was elected, and him contributing to me getting laid off by his budget cuts didn't help.

2) I was just re referencing that other comment. Nothing against you or anything.

For the beautiful women and the PERFECT weather and all the great beaches and other places to go here in SoCal, it's not all it's cracked up to be.
