Post FAMU Homecoming Recap Sorta...

Famu's Homecoming is winding down so I decided to give you a recap in my own style. First I must say this, if you don't attend Famu make sure you know someone who does. If you don't then you'll be a$$ out on going to any of the events. Every event was basically sold out, except for the Battle of the Bands. Second, be prepared for things not to start on time.

I just left the Homecoming Parade and it did not start on time. Even the President of the University and the Grand Marshals were late. Unprofessional?...hmmm YEAH. I was also disenchanted by the scores of Majorette/Dance Troupes. I'm talking about the ones you send your little girls too. Young girl, elementary age girls were looking like dancers at a strip club. Then the mothers get mad when their daughters wear revealing clothes or become sexually active at a young age. That's not to say that that sets one of for those types of pitfalls. But the way those girls were grinding...GROSS! Then if a band came by and they did a little routine, people would come off the sides of the streets and form a human baricade in front of the band to watch. How rude and how stupid. IGNORANCE at it's best. And speaking of bands...the Marching 100 has influenced many college bands as well as high school bands. I was so sick of these high school bands coming by playing selections from shows that the Marching 100 have done this year. BE ORIGINAL. I understand your whole band staff went to FAMU but is it necessary to play copy cat? There's only one Marching 100. Some might say that imitatation is a form of flattery, but DAMN I was so sick of hearing the same songs that you know are FAMU arrangements. Oh yeah and the dance routines are the same too....:-( And there were like 30 marching bands, so that alone would make the parade long. But let's talk about the in betweens.

Why is it that at some schools (Some but not all HBCU's) they have a whole bunch of Mr. and Miss? I don't care about Miss Psychology or Miss Louisiana Club. Why are they in the parade? Or Miss ROTC. What is that all about?

Well I'm happy to say, no crime this year. That's good. Cause here during Famu's Homecoming, Tallahassee becomes "hang 'em high country". Traffic is still bad though, but that's to be expected.

Well I've went on enough. If any of you have went to an HBCU Homecoming this year or in the years past, can you share your experiences? Good and Bad please. I've had a good time, every year I complain, but I did have a good time.

Peace and much Greek Love!

Talking

OH..I really wanted to post about the experiences...

I generally enjoy homecoming.

I don't wake up early enough for the parade as an alumnus. Shoot, when I was living on campus as a student, I NEVER made it to ONE parade...I always HEARD the parade in my SLEEP, but NEVER ATTENDED! lol

I enjoy our ALUMNI band's half-time show! With their "One, Two, You know what to do..."
It's hillarious to see the not so physically fit dancers getting out there doing their show...the not so lean, mean drum majors still trying to high-step and do their back-bends! I am sure after their week of rehearsal...many of them were SCREAMING for BEN-GAY!

After the game, It becomes very special when SORORS gather on the hill to sing our hymn! What a touching thing! After that, we get in our lines, chant and strut ALL THE WAY to the union (Where EVERYONE gathers)as if it were our first PROBATE show! STOPPING TRAFFIC AND ALL...

WHAT FUN! WHAT FUN!

DANG, I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL NEXT WEEKEND!

Thumbs up

I just returned home from a social hosted by the ladies of the Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,Inc. The group from BET HITS was at the party taking photographs and stuff so watch out for that.
NUPE4LIFE, I feel you on not getting tickets to events and them not starting on time. I stood in line for over an hour for tickets to the talent show, and dorm step show, only to realize that all of the free student tickets were gone!!
This weekend has been a trip as usual and I am so exhausted. Maybe I will post details later.
Oh yeah, NUPE4LIFE, were you able to attend Alpha Xi's Bourbon Street at CPA?

Back from AGGIELAND...In case you guys don't know...I love my school! Anyway...Homecoming was great...only one show was sold out...the Stepshow...I got tickets from someone outside...The stepshow was...well...let's just say I'm getting...umhmm...older and next year I'll find out who won from someone else and we'll leave it at that.

The game was good - we won - sorry all of you Bethune-Cookman Wildcats!

Yes Soror AKA2D'91 going to the plot afterwards was great! We sang the hymn and other songs...strutted around the plot...took pictures...hugged alot...

Overall Homecoming was great!

P.S. Just in case you guys don't know which school it is that I love sooooo much - it's NC A&T State University!!! http://www.ncat.edu

Yes Soror Taykimson, Homecoming was great as usual!! I was happy we beat Bethune-Cookman. I'll have to hand it to BC, their band really showed off during the half time show (they were very good)! The Delta's won the step show for the ladies and the Alpha's won for the guys. It seems that we keep missing each other! I went to the plot and asked for you, but you were no where to be found at the time. I'll be in K-town for Thanksgiving though.

Soror Supermodel,

Did you come after we sang the hymn? I didn't stay much longer after that.

Hello Sorors and Sisterfriend,

I must say that this years homecoming was a very interesting one. NUPE4LIFE I must agree with you on the whole ticket issue. . but what can I say the freshman class was really into homecoming this year.

Also I would like to let you all know that We the Ladies of the Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated took first place for the sororities in this year's Homecoming Greek Step Show. Also the Men of the Beta Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated took first place for the fraternities.

Soror Pink Ivy,

I'm glad to hear that the Phirst Phamily held it down at FAMU Homecoming Step Show, congrats. Kinda sad that this was the first year I missed it.
