Patriot Act & Wells Spring Scam

I just got off the phone with my friend and she's in histerics. Basically a few months ago she told me about this thing through Wells Spring called PRP...which is payroll. It's like investments for those who are starting a business. Her father had enrolled in it and her mom too, and had started getting their money. It seemed completely legit...you had to fill out a tax form and everything. If you invested $1000 into PRP you'd wait 3 months and then start getting weekly payments of $1000...for a year. You could reinvest the money and that would get you more. So what my friend did was invest some money and bought a new Mustang, because she figured that she'd be getting how ever much a week and that'd pay it off within a year probably.

Well, she just told me that the FBI and IRS are investigating this Wells Spring now based off of the Patriot Act...because this company is a bank and there's a lot of transfering of funds and some is going to foreign accounts. My friend hasn't even gotten any of her money (she was expecting to get it this next week)...she is broke, and now her parents might have to claim bankruptcy.

I am just so greatful that I didn't invest. She had tried to get me to invest by selling my diamond and investing the $4500.00 into it...but I just didn't had a BAD feeling about it. I knew her parents had gotten their money and had started reinvesting, but something just didn't seem right.

So anyways, I dunno if this'll be on the news or not but I guess this is a good lesson for anyone thinking about making money quick: DON'T DO IT!

Hootie,
Not to discredit your friend or her parents, but what were they thinking? Anything that sounds THAT good with money has got to be a scam or some type of gimmick. Invest $1000 into a company and they mail you checks for the same amount weekly??? How would any company benefit from such a practice? I'm glad you didn't sell your diamond and invest the money.

Lesson learned: If something sounds too good to be true, especially when it comes to money, talk to a lawyer just to make sure it's legit. Or, stick to lottery tickets and pray you picked the lucky number!

Sure does. Pyramids have been around in hundreds of permutations.
