Class Rings
Did any of you buy a class ring in college? Or, if you haven't reached that point yet, are you planning to?
I never got one in college because I couldn't afford one. I'm considering asking for one for Christmas from Mr. KillarneyRose. Do you think it's too late? I graduated 14 years ago.

'cept mine's got '01 on it.
I never go anywhere without mine. I've had it since fall of 2000. At A&M, you can't just buy a ring, you have to have earned at least 95 hours of credit, 60 at A&M if you're a transfer. Then you can go through the Alumni Association to have them order it for you. They order rings at the end of each semester.
Aggies finding rings on ebay are about as pleased with that as we are when we see our glo's badge.

I just graduated, and my parents really wanted me to get one, but I didn't want one. But it's not too late, it's never too late for things like that.

Except mine is white gold with a tube set diamond in the onyx, and it only has my year on one side and my degree on the other. I just had it sized down three sizes a couple of months ago, and boy am I glad that Jostens has a lifetime warranty that is honored across borders!
I don't think it's too late. I still wear my ring with pride, and I graduated 10 years ago.

I just couldn't justify dropping $400 or so on a ring -- especially if there are no jewels or anything. Didn't get a HS ring either.

I wish I could find one for my college that was like (most of ) the ones pictured here. The only ones I've ever seen look like HS rings with the jewels and whatnot. I'd just like a metal one with the black shading or whatever you'd call it.

Mrs. DeltAlum bought an Ohio University Class Ring for me when we were still engaged. I've worn it ever since.
You can probably find pretty much anything you want.
The neat thing, to me, is that they're guaranteed practically forever.
I talked to a representatiave (I think it was Herf Jones) at Homecoming a couple years ago, since the stone in mine in kind of scratached. He said to send it back and they would replace it free -- the ring is over 35 years old.
They will also put greek letters in the stone for about $30. She didn't order it with them originally.
I may have the work done someday, but I've worn it constantly for all of these years, and I'd feel pretty funny without it for the few weeks it would take to do the work.

I didn't want a class ring from college.
I have a class ring for high school. I later found a class ring from my high school on ebay...it dates back to segregation days, and I wear it with pride.

I bought my college ring about 8 or 9 years ago. However, I heardly ever wear it (I guess for fear of it being lost). It is the most expensive piece of jewelry that I own so far. My high school ring is floating around somewhere.

FI's parents MADE him get an LSU class ring. They were living out their never going to college through him.
He's worn it exactly twice: graduation and a job interview.
That's $200/wearing. He's not a jewelry boy (thank GOD!). Watch and a wedding ring - that's all
I just think class rings are kinda clunky. Not my style. But if you want one, hey, go for it!

I'd go to Artcarve.com and check them out. We sell them in our store and I had a woman who was 68 replace hers finally after 20 some years of it missing.
I have thought about getting a class ring, but really I never got a high school ring. If I do I will probably make it myself (design it) and incorporate my schools colors...red, white and black. If I don't want that I may just choose the Chi Omega colors and have that as a class ring instead. Personally I see myself wearing a ring with my school colors than a bulky class ring
This picture is from ArtCarved.com. It's under the family rings, but it's the only petite one that I liked. I'd put my name and then graduation year on it...with a Garnet (which is my birthstone and the school colors).

I lose rings soooo easily, atleast I did with my High School Ring! I might get a college one but I'd rather use the money to go shopping or something (atleast right now)....Someday I'll probably change my mind though!!
Also, I am not yet a full-fledged gung-ho for ASU girl....I'm still a Trojan at heart!!

It's never too late--once an alum, always an alum! You can make it extra-special by getting it in DZ colors.
I'm still debating about whether or not to get a class ring (I graduated in May). I wore my HS class ring until the fall of my junior year, when I got a very special ring from the boy. It's $450 or so, which can be spent on better things right now. Maybe in a few years.
