Arrow Collegiates that transferred to another school??

Is there anyone out there who transferred as a collegiate and affiliated with their GLO at their new school?

I am about to make this transition, and of course going to a new place I am a little nervous, but at the same time SUPER excited! I was just wondering if anyone had any experience/stories to share.

I didn't, as the chapter at my new school is closed, but I really wish there were sisters there. Luckily there is a chapter accross town that I can go visit.

One of my chapter sisters did this a few years ago (transferred from my init. chapter to the chapter accross town from my new school) and it worked out great - she ended up liking them more than she liked us! They're pretty similiar schools though, so I think that had something to do with it. Good luck to you!

Hopefully it should work, because I am living in the house and going from an anti-greek commuter school to a little college town with a larger greek system.

Steelepike, where are you transferring from/to? Are you going to live in the house? Let me know how it turns out for you!

I am transferring from Oklahoma State University to The University of Oklahoma. I do not plan to live in house this first year but plan to move in next year if the oppurtunity presents itself. I have already met some of the guys there and they are accepting of me transferring, so it should be a good year.

I might be planning to move out to California in a year or so and you know what sucks? they dont have any ZTA chapters where I'll be living so even if I do repledge I may not be able to be active too long I think theres only 2 chapters even in CA and theyre nowhere near LA....which I'm hoping to transfer to UCLA or somewhere around there anyway.

Nichole,
ZTA has a chapter at Cal State Fullerton which while not next door to UCLA is about 40 miles, which for you may be far, but in California that is a drop in the bucket for a drive. There are also chapters at Cal Poly Pomona (45 miles), Cal State San Bernardino (75 miles), and there is an alum group located in the San Fernando Valley.

Two of my best friends are affiliates (from Elon and U of South Carolina). WE have 3-4 affiliates who join us a year. IT's pretty common at UGA.

I didn't transfer, but we had a woman transfer to our school from another chapter. She was really fabulous and fit right in with our group. She ended up being the president her senior year!! good luck!!

We have some transfers from our chapter at Chico State and even though it's a BIG difference comming from Chico to a commuter school, they fit fine. It's nice having some people around who have come from big schools to give us a different perspective on greek life.

I transferred and affiliated as well (WAY back when I was a collegian), got very involved with my new chapter and fit right in. In fact, my romm mate first semester at the new school was an Alpha Phi who had transferred from WSU and we both affiliated with the UPS chapters and moved into the respective houses.

I think it worked well for me though because both of my chapters were similar in personality and style. I'm sure there are chapters I may not have been as comfortable in. I was most excited to get to finally live in the house.
