Question about Rho Chi's
or Rho Gammas, or whatever they're called at your school.
If a school has deferred recruitment and the Rho Chi's are disaffiliated for the entire fall semester, do they pay dues during those months that they are disaffiliated?

I was a PX last year for our deferred recruitment. Yeah, I still had to pay the full dues. I lived in the house and participated in some house stuff (like chapter, etc). I'm assuming this is always the case, but I could be wrong!

My school recently went to deferred recruitment. My understanding is that PXs (actually they're calling them Pi Rho Chis now) are deaffiliated for the fall, which means they pay full dues, can live in the house if they wish, can attend closed functions such as chapter meetings, but cannot wear/display letters or attend open events with sisters. If they do live in the house, they must move out shortly before rush starts - I think they just swap rooms with a sister who lives in the dorms.
I was a PX and just deaffiliating for the summer was hard - I can't imagine deaffiliating for a whole regular semester!

At my school, ditto to what these women have said.
However, at our school, if you live in the sorority house, you must move out for rush week. It sucks because we don't do the hotel thing so you basically have to find your own housing!!

Yeah, we're lucky at BU becauce the PXs move into the old Tri-Delt house, which now is called the Hampton House. Thankfully, we were also allowed to live IN the sorority house. I didn't have to worry about moving into a dorm. I think it would be harder to be disaffiliated living with freshmen than with your sisters! I just hid away in my room and watched tv/studied when we had PNM's over.

My school has deferred recruitment, and it's odd to hear about those of youin the same situation disaffiliating for the entire fall semester....our Rho Gammas (as they're called now) only disaffiliated for the final month of the fall semester (beginning of December, recruitment began the second week of January). I would guess it makes more sense to disaffiliate for the entire semester, especially since I came from a small school and you'd be more likely to see your Rho Gamma before their disaffiliation!
