Thumbs up Blessings in Service

I have to share with some of my favorite internet peeps the wonderful experience I had this weekend...The Women's Ministry at my Church sponsored a baby shower for unwed teen mothers on Saturday. We had 4 mothers and 5 children who showed up and it was a blessing to all of us!! The women of the Church really went above and beyond with their outpouring of gifts. Most brought gifts for all of the children, not just 1 like we had requested. Several members of the church gave their testimony of being single parents, former drug addicts, etc. and basically said "Look at how God delivered me!" Then, one of the mothers told her story of being verbally and physically abused by her drug addicted mother, being molested by her mother's boyfriend at the age of 10, turning to drugs, alcohol and permiscious (sp?) sex at an early age, and being the teenage mother of 2. Her oldest child is in foster care because she physically abused him as well! Ladies, let me tell you, there was not a dry eye in the house!! One of the ministers of the Church blessed the babies and we gave them Bibles with all of their other goodies. After the traditional baby shower games (most of the girls had never had a shower given for them, nor had they ever attended a baby shower) we ate and just spent time fellowshipping with the girls and babies. One girl was even moved to give her life to Christ!!

It was a wonderful day! Let me ask this question....what has been your most moving personal service experience? This one has topped all of the other ones!

Shalom Everybody-

-Eclipse, I pray many more of us would step out and bless as you all did---so many times the only thing some of us get is a beat down for what has taken place in our lives...the Women in your body have declared to the world that these babies are BLESSED!

-The event I remember most- is when my 6 year old son tugged at my skirt during a teen-celebration and annouced to me that the LORD wanted him to surrender his life over to HIM. (This was not the topic nor message of the service mind you).

My child boldly walked down the aisle, stood at the alter for several minutes (the ministry team either didn't see him because of his height or wasn't taking him serious), walked over to this young minister that was 6'4" and just stood there in front of him. Well within a few seconds, this man bent down to my son's level, they talked and they began to pray. This young man held my son and gently kissed him on the forehead. My son gave his heart to the LORD...He accepted JESUS CHRIST as his LORD and SAVIOR. He walked back to his seat with a look of seriousness and said, Mom, don't worry, I did what GOD told me to do". We celebrated with Dad when he got home from work that night. MAN!!!!! I still get tears in my eyes when I think about it. Children---sensing GOD's presence, not being ashamed, not trying to figure it out with their heads, just accepting CHRIST at HIS WORD! Is it better then that?---Babies understanding who their GOD is!

Please pray that he continues to walk in the light like Christ is the light...because he can get on and work Mommy's nerves!

Shalom
