Recruitment Idea

Brothers,
As most of you are about to partake in Recruitment at your various schools, I would offer this idea if there is still time.

Last night, I put on a Recruitment Workshop for my Chapter. In creating this, I had certain fears but also certain goals for the workshop. I wanted to target the topics that I, along with other brothers felt needed to be addressed to our brothers. These topics included...

1) Conversation Starters:Recruitment is not about a handshake and bid!
2) Telling the story Delt Sig Style: What are WE Selling?
3) Review of FAQ/Handling Objections or Questions
4) Understanding Each Other: Baseball Analogy
5) Trusting the Process
6) Rules and Pointers
7) Recruitment Speech

For each of these topics, I had specific points I wanted to bring up along with areas for discussion that the brothers would discuss. Well, long story short, the night went AMAZING! First, there were 32 brothers that showed up when the event was not mandatory and just put on by a few of us. Secondly, it gave each other a chance to share the Do's and Do Not's of Recruitment and just what exactly works for each one of us as Individuals. Lastly, it brought us all together as a Chapter in the perspective of what we are selling to our Potential new members. The night ended up going 2 and a 1/2 hrs. and the brothers feeling motivated and pumped up to go and Recruit men.

I just wanted to share my high from this experience and if you have any questions on the topics I discussed or issues I encountered, feel free to email me at the address below. I also used a lot from the Delta Sig National Webpage under recruitment as well as other resources from various conferences. I strongly encourage that you do something like this! I will guarantee that leaving that workshop left me feeling confident that our Chapter was all on the same page about Recruitment in all aspects.

I wish you the best of luck with Recruitment and hope all is well at your respective Chapters and Universities!!!

How are the new rush techniques working? Have you increased the number of men that came to rush?

I congratulate you on being so proactive with rush.

Something to add...

Talk in terms of the other person's interests. If they are big into sports, introduce them to brothers who are also big in sports; if they're studying finance, introduce them to brothers who are studying finance.

Find out what concerns they may have and address them (i.e. cost, time, etc).

Find out what their goals are for college (i.e. degree, make lots of friends, grow as a leader, etc), and show them how joining Delta Sig will help them achieve those goals.

To add to the goals question, ask what their ultimate college experience would be, and show them how joining Delta Sig will help them realize that ultimate experience - this question can get them to expand upon the goals question.

Once you ask them to join, and they accept their bid, ask them to recommend a couple of guys.
