Bid Day!!! Hoooooooray!!!

Oh my gosh - what a long emotional weak for me!

(Pre-Note: We have 8 sororities on our campus with about 300 girls going through this year)

The first day went great. We did our usual laid back style and used our normal chapter room furniture to seat girls and talk to them. Our advisors told us that only 2 girls cut us after the first day.

The second day was awesome. We completely decorated differently trying to make the chapter room brighter and happier feelings - conversaion seemed to go good and we were told only 10 people cut us that night.

We found out that the talk around the freshman lock up dorms were really speaking well of us (DG), KD, and Phi Mu. Their favorite thing about us was the fact we are so laid back and it is hard to put a stereotype on us because everyone is so different. That is actually one thing we try to push during recruitment is the uniqness of everyone in our chapter. It really sets us apart form others because no one knows what to stereotype us as.

Skit went great, we had parties full of wonderful girls. The next day, we had 3 pref parties and girls we all loved came back. We weren't too worried about getting girls on Bid Day because out of all 3 parties all of the girls could have fit in well with DG.

Before I get to our Bid Day today, I have to say that rotation got a little messed up on the first day, so I talked to this girl who wasn't in my rotation, but I ended up loving her. I asked to speak with her on pref and we had a great conversation. She really wanted to go DG which made me excited. The only thing I was nervous about was the fact she is an upperclassman, so I didn't know if she'd be high enough on our bid list.

Greek Life set quote at 29 because a lot of girls dropped out after philanthropy and skit. So basicly we could take 29 plus 2 or 3 more.

This morning I was going to pee in my pants as they were going by the list of who signed their bids. My girl's last name is Taylor and I didn't think the last names that started with S's would EVER end. Finally they got to T's and said her name and I got all excited and teary eyed. I couldn't wait to see her run through the door.

But anyways, we took 32 girls and tied with KD and Phi Mu as the largest pledge classes. We got 32 AWESOME girls who are all so beautiful and well rounded.

I must admit during the week I was getting no sleep so I was over emotional. I said I wanted to quit 100 times I think, but pref night really brought it all back to my heart on why I went DG. I think it's funny though, when I was a PNM, I never realized that pref night wasn't only important to the PNMs - but to the sisters as well.

I'm so excited about our new girls. We did GREAT this year. My pledge class last year was also great, so we just keep getting better. I'm sorry this isn't very detailed by day, but I am exhausted.

To PNMs: The best advice I can give you after this week, is when you go to pref, look around at all the girls in that room, including the other PNMs. They could be your sisters - the ones you laugh and cry with or even name them as the godmothers of your kids. Don't think of it as a party, just make sure that you look at these girls as people who will be in your life forever, and then make your choice. If that doesn't hit home, then I don't know what does.

I took tons of digi pics, so I will try to post some later. Sorry for all the bad grammar and punctuation!! I'm just tired!! <333
