Criminals in Charlotte, NC to be Billboarded!
I just heard about this and I say GOOD!!!!!
Entire article: http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlot...s/13394396.htm
Excerpt:
So now, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking the public to help.
Beginning in January, police will put the faces of people wanted for robbery on billboards around Charlotte.
The City Council approved funding for the idea Monday night.
Anyone who sees someone on a billboard or has information about where that person might be can call Crime Stoppers -- and be eligible for reward money.
Each month, for six months, five people will be featured on two billboards each. Police plan to put the billboards in neighborhoods where they think the suspect lives or commits crimes. They will e-mail smaller versions to neighborhood groups and post fliers in stores and restaurants.
"We want to make it so uncomfortable that the person won't be able to go on with what they consider their normal lives," said Capt. Harold Medlock, who oversees a team of officers who hunt down robbery suspects. "They'll either have to turn themselves in or cease being in public."
Medlock said police haven't put together a list of worst offenders and don't yet know who will be featured. He said they will try to contact the person's family beforehand, and give them a last chance to turn themselves in.
I think this is great. We already have a billboard that shows how many accidents Charlotte has had this year. It's 24 THOUSAND PLUS right now. Told you all that the people in Charlotte can't drive.

Amen to that. I can't tell you how many times I'm going from 77 South to 485 and someone cuts over at the last minute, through the grass even, to get on the exit.

Distractions?????????
Maybe they are having the accidents because they are trying to read the billboard.
Then, if they place the names/faces of criminals on a billboard, you know it will also distract drivers.

Re: Distractions?????????
There's only the one billboard in Charlotte, that I know of, announcing the number of accidents and it is on the most accident prone street in Charlotte.
Folks in Charlotte still would be horrible drivers if there were no billboards, folks on the side of the road selling Lewey Vuittonn, etc.

They sell those at the abandoned gas stations here in Charlotte, along with sofas and flowers.

One problem with this....
....what if they were falsely accused?
I smell a huge potential slander/defamation lawsuit

Maybe but that's something to be worked out in the investigation or the courts. I would think that there would be very compelling evidence against the Person of Interest to warrant a BB.

Does velvet artwork get thrown in as a gift with purchase?
