Good for you!

My ex-boyfriend drives/drove (?) an ultracycle...beautiful, yellow and chrome bike. I didn't ride with him until we were in the middle of breaking up. He had had the bike for two years prior to our break up and I'm bummed that I didn't ride with him sooner. It is truly one of the greatest feelings in the world. We would ride all over town. But the best was driving through the mountains at night. Arizona nights are so beautiful. Sigh...

It was such a bitter sweet time.

I *love* motorcycles! My dad's always had one, so I grew up with them (much to mom's dismay-she hates them!).

When I was a kid he had a Honda, but I never paid attention to the make, etc.

A few years ago he got a little BMW which he liked, except the handlebars were awkward. After a couple years, he started having weird engine problems that the shop couldn't fix, so he traded it in and last summer got another Honda! This one's a Goldwing & man does it ride smooth.

I would ask what kind of riding you plan on doing? He does at least 2 long vacations (1 week+) a year that involve traveling through a couple states, so the Goldwing is perfect for that. (Storage plus the smooth rides). But if you're just tooling around town, you can get a nice bike for a lot less.

I'm partial to Honda's because I'm familiar with them. And in high school I totally wanted a CRX 125 dirt bike. Heck, I'd still take it.

But you don't know what you are missing with a "crotch rocket."

i was thinking of getting a vespa when i moved to boston. hmmm.

one of my pledge brothers made a big deal of buying a motorcycle a few years ago and ended up totaling it the week after he bought it. i still want one though. maybe someday. maybe when i move to l.a. this summer...since i have an suv right now and i'm not looking forward to filling it up for $60+.

sigh.
