Not Really. Reagan was a very successful actor who became California Governor and ran for President, where was the best president in the past 30 years.
Maybe Scwarz would of followed in his footsteps......

It's a sad thought, but actors are probably the most qualified to hold high-level offices these days.

I personally am very sad for California these days...
This state is a joke! While I am not a Gray Davis fan, he WAS elected by the people of California, and he has not, to my knowledge, broken any laws, so he should be allowed to serve his term. Whoever becomes governor will still have the same problems that Gray faces, so really, what is there to gain??? Do Republicans really think that by having a Republican governor that it will make it easier for George W. in 2004 in California??? It has become a circus, so why not have an actor with NO experience in government as the chief executive officer of the 5th largest ecomony in the world. Hell, why not Larry Flynt or Gary Coleman-they are both running as well! Not to mention that this travesty of an election will cost the state over 36 million dollars!

"You vill vote for me or I tear your arm off and shove it up your...earlobe"
Seriously, though. I can't remember my Civics (Principles of Democracy) class from high school, but I think that you have to be a native born American Citizen to be President. May be the only job with that qualification.
Don't think Arnie is.
Anybody know if I'm right about either of those? It's been a long time since I took those classes.
Edited to answer my own question, here's info from one of the online encyclopedias:
"Constitutional Provisions
The members of the Constitutional Convention settled for a single chief executive, chosen not by Congress but by a special body, the ELECTORAL COLLEGE. The president was to serve for four years, with indefinite eligibility for reelection to the office. The president must be a "natural born Citizen" and at least 35 years old."
The part about "indefinite eligibility" for reelection was changed after FDR, I think.

Why must you be born in the US to be president? Any particular reason?
Just curious.....

The only real answer is that The Constitution says so.
I suspect that in the days of the Constitutional Convention, having defeated the British, but still having major issues with powers like France and England, the founders were being protective.
But, even I'm not that old, I wasn't there, so I don't know for sure.
You might ask Tom Earp.
