initiation robes

I have a question. My chapter wants to just buy some el cheapo robes for rituals and not have to make them. Does anyone know of a place where we can buy them. I have done an internet search and cannot find any place that is affordable-they're like $150 each! WE were thinking $10 each or so...

anyway, if you now of a company please let me know.

BTW-it's fine with our IHQ-we checked.

Thanks!!

Graduation robes perhaps? I don't know because our robes were expensive and we couldn't just use some replicas.

Times like this make me glad that we use the catsuits!

alumni support is shaky at best-good idea though.
The problem is we have many to make and little time-that's why buying in bulk seemed like a good idea.

That's about right. I purchased the ones that my chapter uses today. The entire ritual set was around 2 or 3 thousand dollars.

About $150 per robe isn't really that bad.

You could perhaps check with a company that sells choir robes? I know when we ordered them with my church the price depended on the amount we ordered. Obviously the per item cost dropped with an increased order. Maybe you can get together with another chapter and purchase more, or have a set you can share until everyone can afford their own? I know some companies sell patterns for choir robes, and it could be a fun sewing experience for all involved. I'll pm you with the choir robe company name later GlitterKitty.

If you want to have alums help out (though you said it was shaky), perhaps they could purchase some and get their name put in the back on the inside?

honeychile, with those azure blue lycra catsuits, I hope you get them professionally done by a seamstress, that fabric could be hard to work with. Luckily it stretches though

I don't know about the other chapters, but we're toying with building the cost in the initiation fee.

Even lycra tends to get too loose after a while, you know!

This place sells them-- an organization in my area recommends them for basic supplies. Cost might vary depending on what you're looking for:

I think the suggestion of talking with another chapter (or two) to get an optimal bulk rate is a great idea if you can manage it.

If you want to risk it, there's always ebay...

You mean you all actually wearing clothing during your ritual. How interesting!

Do you dress the animals, too?

How about the sacrificial virgins?

Oh, I forgot, those have been dropped because they're too hard to find...

OK -- any non Greek reading this, IT IS A JOKE.

We cut that stuff out years ago!

I would assume maybe your HQ could supply you with the pattern? Then hire a local seamstress to make. Might be cheaper.

Perhaps you could borrow the robes from another chapter until you have enough money to buy new ones.

Well, it does get a bit drafty here in Massachusetts.
