Prepping for rush...

Hey girls (and guys too but I doubt you'll reply to this)!

I was just wondering what all the crazy/fun things are that you have done to prep for rush, or are planning to do...right now I'm sitting here waiting for my self-tanner to soak in lol (I burn too easily at the booth), and last night I lightened my hair up. Closer to rush I'm gonna get the whole manicure and pedicure thing done. One of our girls also sells cosmetics and so maybe I'll buy a new lipcolor or something from her...what shades look best with a turquoise dress?

Ooohh fun topic!!!

Just yesterday I got my hair hilighted and cut and I got a pedicure.

Friday I am getting my acrylic nails put on and I have been putting my self tanner on every other day to stay nice and dark. I'm also getting my eyebrows waxed on Friday and tomorrow is makeup day! I am going shopping with my mom for new makeup and since we just got a MAC at our mall I am pretty stoked.

I love this time of the year b/c I can justify all this pampering by saying I "need" it for rush.

I bought some new eyeshadows, and some cute new sandals! We had to have the shoes for a particular night, and best of all they were on SALE.

I need to do the fake tan thing also. I'm very fair-skinned so I can't get a "real" tan (better for me not to anyhow). Manicure, pedicure, but I'll do them myself b/c I think I do a good job.

I also still need to buy a pair of khaki capris. I have this gift card for the GAP I still haven't used, so I'll check there first. I can't wait till we get our shirts in for the dif. nights!

Of course, my favorite rush preparations are through online shopping... I also love experimenting with makeup and doing my nails a different shade every night. And taking an afternoon shower! And I use all these extra hair products.

I have! It actually works, just don't use too much or else you'll end up with goop all over your teeth.

I have to say this thread does remind me that i should pick up some tooth whitening strips...

As for me, my big thing is that I had to go shoe hunting...when you wear a size 12, finding the right shoes for rush is one of the hardest things...Other than that I am looking to get my hair cut, but I need to find a place in this town I actually feel comfortable with...Also I need to get a self tanner...since my legs do not tan naturally...and my natural skin color is pale white...This thread is just reminding me of all the things I need to do still...

Which again reminds me I need to fix a button on my favorite khakis...

I got my hair high lighted last weekend, and while I was on vacation i got pretty much all of my shopping done (thank goodness!) I'll be getting my pedicure and acrylics right befoe rush starts (I don't want to give myself too much time to break anything before rush starts), along with my eyebrows and visit to the tanning bed. It's only a few weeks away, and I am sooo excited!!!

Fun!

I've gotten my hair highlighted, and cut. I got my acrylics filled in, plus a French manicure on then, and pink polish on my toes. I've been buying my recruitment clothes all summer, so I'm set there.

4 days to go!

Okay, I don't want this to sound like a put down, because I'm sure you ladies are stunningly beautiful and everything and I in no way mean this as an attack. I just ask out of pure curiousity, but is there anyone that DOESN'T do this sort of thing. Sure, there are women in my chapter that are doing the sames sorts of things right now...and maybe I just don't fit in (in that sense). I have never dyed my hair, never had fake nails, never been to a tanning bed, and I don't wear any makeup. For recruitment, I don't plan to change much either. I might use a little blush to give myself some extra color, but I do not plan on changing my day to day appearance. Do you girls always get all this done (like through-out the school year)? I can totally understand wanting to feel put-together, but is all of that really that important? I'm not the prettiest girl, but I do hope that when I'm talking to PNM's they are looking for personality and not to see if my hair is highlighted just right...

I don't do that sort of thing!

*I've never dyed my hair... it's a really deep color naturally, and I'd have to strip it for it to hold color, and I wouldn't want to torture my hair like that.. I like my hair how it is! I also already have extremely straight hair, so I don't have to use a straightener I refuse to curl my hair because it usually doesn't last very long anyway, and it makes me look like a poodle... hehehe.

*I've never liked the feel of fake nails...

*I'm one of the lucky folks who has never had to tan with a tanning bed or tanning cream, because I'm naturally tan ! How cool is that?

*I do wear makeup, but I have more than enough of that

I've bought new clothes, new lipcolor, new nail polish, gotten my hair trimmed, got my eyebrows done, bought new shoes... Would I have done this anyway? Eventually, but I'm such a procrastinator that I needed to have rush as an excuse to do it now.

white daisy and texasprincess, i'm with you guys...i'm more of an au natural kinda gal. i don't like fake nails, because it's already ruined my natural nail from past use i'm not much into tanning beds either...i've seen way too many friends come out with orange faces. i'd say not to worry too much about personal appearance, just do what makes you feel good

I'm with you in not reallly planning to do anything out of the ordinary. I might get a french manicure, but that's about it. I'll be doing good to get makeup on in the morning, personally!

I'd also be completely broke if I went and got all that done all the time!

For rush I dye my hair brown, a very deep choclate color. In Oklahoma where "blondes" are a dime a dozen, dark hair makes me stand out.

I file my nails, and trim my toenails.

I do not tan. I glow I'm so pale.

I refuse to buy new clothes for rush. I'd rather the rusher's see the real me, and decide if they want to be my sister or not that way.

I also refuse to cover up my peircings, I mean, I'll dye all the colors away from my hair, but to take out my peircings is asking too much.
