bid day...and classes?

Just wondering if bid day is on the first day of classes, how does this normally work. I would think it would be hard to coordinate everyones schedule.
Thanks
I think I discovered smilies!

It varies from school to school. Some schools have recruitment before classes even start.

At my school, bid day is the Monday following the last four days and it's at 5:30 and is absolutely awesome looking.

At 5 pm the New Members meet at the Student Union Building in their rho chi groups and then all the groups walk over to the school park where there is a huge hill. There are guys all around, and all 5 sororities are at the bottom of the hill in their respected groups in matching shirts and there are tons of balloons and signs. Each rho chi group goes up and sings a little song and then at the end screams which sorority they now belong to and then run down the hill to their group.

Bid day at my school is on either Friday or Saturday after that week of rush. School then starts the following Monday. I can't imagine having bid day on the first day of classes. Yikes!

tobesororitygirl-
your bid day sounds really fun.
I think it would be funny to have guys there.
I have no idea what to expect. I think it is kind of a lot to have bid day on the first day of class. Wow...talk about stress!!!

I saw our bid day once and hear a lot about it, but have yet to experience it.

I forgot to say that our bid day is the third week of classes. We start recruitment on a Wednesday and then it proceeds through the weekend with the great ending!

our bid day is on a friday and classes have been going on all week! at 5 o clock on friday the girls get their bids on the student center, then they run to the academic quad to turn in their bids. Then we get tons of pictures taken and we sing the girls over to the student center for PX revealing. I'm not sure what happens after that (I've never seen a bid day), but I have heard them!!!! you can hear it no matter where you are on campus..it's crazy!

OUr bid day is on teh Friday on the third week of classes at noon... most people either don't have classes Friday... have a break or leave them... the PNMs meet and get their rho chis revealed.. then open their bids, sign them and are taken to the quad where the 3 chapters are waiting with balloons and gifts... we hang out for about an hour... then sometimes go to lunch with girls who don't go back to class and girls who have to go back to class go back with lots of gifts and balloons That night each chapter does their own thing.. we usually do pinning and go to dinner.

Our Bid Day is Friday, and our school works it out so that girls can pick up their bids at noon. Then they come to their respective sorority table and either accept or decline. Then everyone screams.

Our Bid Day has ALWAYS been mid-week, when classes have started! I think it's wonderfully wise to have recruitment prior to the start of classes - for both the sisters AND the pnm!!

Our recruitment week is Monday-Thursday and Bid Night is Friday (the first week of classes back from winter break). The recruitment counselors hand out the bids at about 5:00 on their halls and then at 5:30 or so we all go over to the dorms to collect our girls. Then we have dinner, pictures, etc. at the house. Usually most of the girls end up sleeping over! It is really a fun night. The next morning we always have a senior-pledge breakfast and then send them home for a few hours of napping (we all need it after that week!). On Saturday night we usually have some sort of get together and then go out for Tear Night (my absolute favorite night of the year! This year is my last one )

Bid Day at U of Houston is always on the same day as pref. You go to pref in the morning, into early afternoon. Then bid matching happens that afternoon and you come back at night to get your bid. When you get your bid, you run upstairs to your chapter and they take you to their Bid Day (or Night ). Then you have school the next morning. But for the past couple of years rush has been after school starts, so it doesn't affect the first day of school
