The Rock at the Republican Convention
I just heard on the radio that the Rock will be introducing vice presidential candidate Dick Cheney tonight at the convention.

Hi All!
He didn't introduce Cheney, he introduced Dennis Hassert, who is the Speaker of the House. I wouldn't say he was advocating the Republican party, but he was there and did a great job in interviews afterward with CNN and MSNBC. He also said that he just recently registered to vote and that he wouldn't tell who he was voting for.

I didn't watch it last night. I did hear from that same radio announcement that people were protesting his appearance because they say that wrestling promotes violence. I guess his introduction went on as scheduled.

I wonder if this is a ploy by the Repbulicans to get votes?
Just because The Rock was there, does that mean he is a Republican? Why did he not tell who he was voting for?
Just like the church that was shown via satellite...were they from Philly?
The Republicans maybe "desperate" for votes, rather...desperate to make it seem like they have this "rainbow" party...

Soror AKA2D,
I think you hit the nail on the head. They want to appear "all inclusive" in their efforts to attract the minority vote.

The Rock was interview this morning by the chick that is Bryant Gumbel's sidekick on their morning show. He said that his appearance was a part of his Get out the Vote efforts, and that he would also be appearing at the Democratic convention.
Side note...I know he's cute and all...but does anyone else find it annoying that he speaks of himself in the 3rd person?!?
