just an fyi... dr4image, the current high bidder, is an international officer who collects and rescues pins as a hobby. i know she was on the list of ebayers, but i thought i would mention that she's a sister in case someone didn't notice....

This might be a dumb question, but how did an Alpha pin end up on ebay anyways. I had to give my Alpha pin back. I assumed that that was customary, that once your inititated you give the pin back. Am I wrong is this assumption?

I can think of two ways:

1) New Member Educator (or whatever the Pledge Mother is called now) orders too many pins, and somehow makes off with one or

2) Well meaning alumnae purchase them for a "special" pledge class. My pledge class was the largest on campus, and our alums bought each of us our pins & made special pillows for them. The pins cost all of $2 then. So, I still have mine.

I was wondering the same thing!

I wish I could have kept my Alpha pin.. I think it's beautiful! But I will be getting my badge soon (yippee!), so it's all good!

I know on my campus some girls who decided to stop the new member program part way through left with their new member pins, and no matter how hard we tried we could not get them back...very messy...Another stituation is that some of the pins my chapter has have really loose clasps so they would fall off...so girls would have to get new ones from the nmc and sometimes would later find their original one and would decide not to return it...

Hi, my eBay id is daniels_girl. I started bidding on the Alpha pin before I found you guys here. Just wanted to let you know. I'll be keeping a close eye on it to be as sure as I can that one of us wins it. If I get it, I'll most likely send it to my chapter, unless someone has a better idea.
