HELP! power window won't go up
Hey everyone-
I'm hoping someone here can help! My car window won't close!
I was driving back from an interview this morning, and when i went to put my passenger side window up (power windows), it won't budge! The down works, the up doesn't. It's not locked, and I tried both the driver's side control and the control on that door.
If i lived in the 'burbs this wouldn't be a problem, but I live in the city.
Does anyone have any idea of how I can get it up?????
I'm going to see my friend Nate tonight who's going to try to fix the switch for me, but I have a meeting at 1:30 down on campus. I really can't leave my car with the window wide open.
HELP!

Sounds like the motor for your window took a dump. I hope your friend can fix it otherwise it's going to cost you about 300 bucks to get a new one put on.

Since I wrote this post, I've actually done some research and talked to my friend, and calmed down from the initial panic. We think all the needs done is to replace the switch, which he actually has an extra one.
Gotta love google. Typed in "nissan 200SX" "power window" and "problem" and the first thing that showed up was a yahoogroup discussion which told me exactly what was wrong.
The internet rocks. Especially for a girl clueless about cars!

this happened to my car window once. the motor wasn't broken, but the window somehow slipped off the automatic track that it runs on to push it up and down (if the window is still making a motorized noise, but nothing is happening this is probably the case). My dad knows something about cars so he was able to fix it like this: he took the paneling off the inside of the door (not as bad as it sounds) to reveal the inside mechanical junk, he the window and put it back on the track and then screwed the panel back on. all it takes is a screwdriver usually, but from then on I NEVER put my window all the way down again (it was a pain to get my dad down and I too live in a city where that same car was stolen!). if you know anybody whose ok with cars they can probably fix it, or you might have to take it some place. I can't imagine it would cost much, unless the motor is blown... I don't know about that. hope that helps, good luck!!!!!

I had this problem all the time with my old GrandAm. You may get lucky and just have to fix the switch, but it could also be the motor. However, mine used to work sometimes if I beat on the door a couple of times just above the armrest.

I have that problem every time it rains... it goes up after about 5 minutes of trying, but *very* slowly. When it's not raining, it's fine...
