Thumbs up Sister Swap

I'm an Alumni from TEXAS A&I, NOW A&M (tells you how old I am) and I was wanting to start a gift swap, maybe for Christmas or mothers day. Here's how it would work. after you sign up you have a certain number of weeks to buy 12 gifts under $5 each or if you're crafty you can make the gifts. Suggestions are votive candles, funky nail files, scratch off lottery tickets, flavored chocolate or tea mixes, nail polish, etc. Just something small to give a sister, the 12 gifts do not need to be the same and chocolate and food are not allowed, just hard, wrapped candy. OK, you wrap each gift individually and clearly write your name on the outside of the package (return address labels are great for this and you can include your email if you want). Send all 12 th me with $10 to cover my packing and mailing costs. I will sort them out and mail them to each participant andif there are extra funds from the $10 each has sent I would divide and sent that out. Then you have a gift to open each day during the busy Christmas season (when we don't put ourselves first) or in anticipation of Mother's Day.
Would anyone be interested? Please email me at mariamunson@comcast.net if you are or you have suggestions. This would be a great way to get to know other Sisters from around the country.

Hi mariamunson & welcome to the GC boards!

Are you from the Texas A&I that was in Kingsville, TX? (That is now Texas A&M Kingsville) I used to attend school there before I transferred! After transferring schools, I joined the Gamma Upsilon chapter and later learned that an ADPi chapter used to exist on my old campus!

Yes, that's where I was from!!! I graduated in 1986 then married but when I tried to look my old chapter up in the official records it was not there. I sent an inquiry and got a reply from a lady that was going to look into it for me then she never emailed again. What year were you there??????? How exciting!!! I lived in the dorm, think it was Martin Hall, wing for sororities.

Wowie that is sooooo neat!

I went to school there from Fall 00- Summer 02! While I was there, the only national Greeks were the Lambda Chi Alpha's and the Sigma Chi's. They had 2 local sororities there, but now there are 2 national sororities (Theta Phi Alpha and Delta Phi Epsilon, both colonized last fall) and one of the remaining local sororities.

That's so exciting! The program director for the college radio station there is a Lambda Chi from a long time ago, and said there used to be a ton of national sororities @ TAMUK, but for whatever reason they all died out

I didn't find out there was an ADPi chapter there until this summer when I was randomly surfing the web and found a complete list of chapters with all the dormant chapters. I think it's so awesome that ADPi used to be there!

From what I hear, greek life is beginning to pick up there again, so maybe someday the chapter can be recolonized

My husband is a Lambda Chi!!!!! Who's the radio station director? Is his name Kyle? There were Zetas, Chi Os, and ADPis and the frats were Lamdbas, Delts, Sigma Chis, Kappa, ATO, that's it. When I met my husband he lived in the house on Corral and there was a nightclub next door called the Station that a Lambda Chi alum owned. SO MUCH FUN!!! Good times! I have 4 sons now and haven't talked to most of my sorority sisters since I got married. We are still close to most fraternity brothers from our time. I was a Crescent!!!

OH WEll, thanks for bringing back the good old days to me.

Whoa!!!

My current boyfriend (it will be 3 years in 2 weeks!) is a Lambda Chi from the Beta Epsilon chapter too!!!!! (we actually started dating my freshman year in college) That is so super amazing!

That's so awesome you're an ADPi from the A&I chapter!!! *And* from your location I can tell you're in the Dallas area? Are you involved with an alumnae association in the area? I'm currently going to school at UNT in Denton!
