This is a thread where you should feel free to post:
1. Internet job sites you have heard about.
2. Something about them.
3. Tips on how to get responses.
4. Your personal experiences and others' . . .

I think flipdog.com is the best. I tend to find the most matches there.

Workopolis.com is pretty good...all Canadian institutions have links to the site for postings of student and graduate employment.

America's Job Bank:
www.ajb.dni.us
Every interview I've gotten has come off that board. Every other site just gave a lot of listings that let me feel productive but didn't actually accomplish anything. I like monster too. However, don't use the Apply Now button. Look for an e-mail address and use that instead.
Personally, I hate Flipdog. Sometimes I go to read the listings and the job on the website isn't actually in my city. I have also never gotten a response from any company I've seen listed there.

I have gotten a couple calls from resumes I submitted through monster.com. My boyfriend uses hotjobs. com and some job search engine that is specific to Pittsburgh. He hasn't had as good of luck.
I just read somewhere that about 4% of people who apply through job sites online actually get hired. They advised seeing the company name, checking to see if they have their own website, then submitting it directly through the company.

I haven't had any luck with any of them, but I keep trying. I have found that if you can find an e-mail it always works better. Also it seems to work better if it is a staffing agency looking to hire you for a position because at least there a headhunter will talk to you. If it lists a phone number,as well, always call like a day later to follow up.

I haven't had any luck with any of them or any of the other options I've been using to find a damn job. Of 86 resumes sent out, two interviews. Not a great percentage.

You Da Monster
Monster.com was started by a Pike, so yeah, I've used that. I've had some good interviews too, but my current job I actually found by looking in the newspaper.

*bumping because I have a question*
Do you post your resumes online? Is it safe since it has all of your contact information on them?

I have subscribed to MonsterTrak and HotJobs. I had some of my interviews from HotJobs. I used to subscribe to JobDirect, but I cancelled it for some reason. I am not sure if they're in existence either. Unfortunately, I have not been hired through the internet. However, I don't think it would hurt to subscribe to these job search sites.

www.idealist.org is good for non-profit organization jobs. I found my internship there last year.

I did for awhile but only got one contact from it out of three websites. It could be that it is just my lack of expirience but I took them down due to lack of interest.
