Fun chapter traditions

Hey everyone! Mary kind of gave me this idea, because of the panda hug thing. We used to give panda hugs in my chapter meetings, from sister to sister, when someone had done something special, or something to be proud of, or maybe just been a really good sister that week. I just wondered if you guys had any cool chapter things like that. We would also snap when we thought something was cool, instead of talking(this was during chapter meetings--it cut down on the noise). I love hearing how other chapters did things, so I just thought I would ask!

AOII chapter traditions

Another version of Panda Hugs is "Roses and Thorns" At the end of the chapter meeting, everyone gets to say a rose and/or a thorn. For instance: Roses to suzie q for driving me to class in the rain, Thorns to my physics teacher for scheduling an exam tomorrow.

I'm sure you also know about using THE ritual password instead of "here" during roll call at the beginning of the meetings (obviously not at meetings where there are new members in attendance).

Do y'all do the loving cup???

Talking

Hi my name is Arianny and I am from the Pi Theta Chapter at FIU. During a meeting when sisters are noisy we usually give them clothes pins to wear so they know that they are too noisy and they have to be quiet!

Alpha love,
Arianny

Sisterhood Ideas

Hey everybody! I'm an active in the Lambda Tau Chapter in Louisiana and I'm new to the site. I'm the new CR chairman and I thought that ya'll might have some good ideas for sisterhood activities. I was wondering what the Panda Hugs, the Loving Cup, and the Ritual password thing during roll call was. They all sounded like fun. We do Roses at the end of each meeting and thats about it. Also, what kind of sisterhood day events do other chapters do? We are just about burned out on EVERYTHING and we need some help fast!!!! Thanks!

Just bumpin'

I thought since we have some newer GC sisters around, I'd bump a few older threads up for discussion. Anyone have anything to add? I love reading about what different chapters do!

At Nu Beta we do the loving cup. What we do is we have a "loving cup" which is a sterling silver plated trophy shaped cup. We sing the "loving cup" song and we put apple juice or water in it and pass it along as we sing. When the song stops that member has to take a sip. We do not use alcohol at all in it because we do this at the house and at special events.

At chapter meetings we had the "support bra" which is a very large bra that is decorated with roses that we hand out to the most helpful or involved sister of the week. The CR committee picks the person.

We also do "roses" where we thank sisters for stuff.

We also have "brag board" where the members put good grades on a board and write their names and then at chapter the VP of Academics draws names from the board for prizes. We also pass around a cup and each girl who had perfect attendance at classes the week before puts their name in the cup and their names are drawn for prizes also.
