Question Just Curious...

Does anyone watch soap operas or did at one time and if so, what soaps do or did you watch? During summer vaction, it was my favorite way to past the time. I'm still an "All My Children" fan. I read the daily updates on the web and its enough to keep me on track. I know exactly what is going on.

Growing up, I watched all ABC soaps. Then, when I got to college it seemed as though everyone watched CBS soaps. But I could never abandon "All My Children" so I watched them all. But I must admit that back in the day, "General Hospital" had some good story lines.

I used to be an avid "Days of Our Lives" fan in college, but after I got a 9-5, I can't catch it anymore and I don't believe in taping it. Besides, the story lines were getting way out there. But, if I find myself at home during that time of day, I'll still tune in. And it's funny, soap operas are so slow moving that even if you don't watch for like 2 or 3 months, you can still pick up almost where you left off.

Now, did anyone used to watch Santa Barbara? That used to be my show in high school.

O.K. I had to post to this one too. I am the biggest All My Children fan. I have been watching it so long that I'm one of the children! SkeeBunny and I are total opposite. I work sometimes 12 hours a day (whew!) so I tape All My Kids everyday! It is my one vice. The story lines are outrageous sometimes, but where else can your love ones die and in a couple of months be found on a secluded island or fall out of an airplane without a parachute and survive?

I have been watching soap operas since I was 2. Home with my granny while mommy worked. Always on ABC so I love All My Children. Shoot I remember when Erica was a teenage model and when Jesse and Angie were the only black people ( not to mention the only poor people) in Pine Valley. I stayed home from work 2 days last week and caught up on all the ABC soaps -------I am glad to see that Todd is back on One Life to Live. I think he is one of the sexiest white men alive. Next to Dex from Dynasty, of course. ( Dex is now Dimitri on AMC)

I don't watch soaps at all but at one time I did because my older sisters used to love "All My Children" and "General Hospital". I remember the old characters and the ones that have been on there for years, like, of course, Erica Cane, do you remember Todd and Jenny on "All My Children"? I remember when Luke and Laura first got married and were running (I can't remember from what or whom).

Even though I don't watch soaps, since I have a television in my office at work, I will change the channel from CNN when my boss isn't in to the talk shows or watch the Wedding Story, The Baby Story and the Dating Story on TLC. Anyway heard of those?

LOL PinkPassion! I watch ALL of those! When I was on maternity leave, I would watch 2 episodes of Wedding Story, 2 episodes of Baby Story, 1 more Wedding Story and 1 Dating Game all in the same afternoon. Some friends of ours were actually on the Wedding Story. My husband started to boycott me when I was watching those shows! I can't wait to tell him that there are other fans!

When I was younger (middle to high school) I used to love "Days of Our Lives" and the whole Bo and Hope (I think that's her name) and Patch and whoever thing. I've since become an "All My Children" fan. Because I work almost 12 hours a day also, I really don't follow it as closely. I think that the person that plays Adam & Stuart Chandler is amazing, though. And I just loved Erica Kane. Remember when "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" started out by playing Erica's long lost (yet evil) daughter?

Question

Okay, okay, am I the only Young and Restless fan??? I watch it every 4-5 months when on off work or whatever reason. I agree with SkeeBunny, I don't miss much during that 4 month span.

I also watch Bold and the Beautiful.

And I'm with you again SkeeBunny on Santa Barbara. I loved that show!

Okay Soror, I feel you with the Young and the Restless and the Bold and the Beautiful. Those ABC soaps are just not for real. You have to get with CBS to really understand the true meaning of soap opears.

I have been watching Y&R since I was a child staying with my grandmother. Even if I miss a week or two, for some reason I can always pick right back up. Sad to say, but do they have a 12 step program for this?!

I know you did not say "real"! Wasn't CBS the station that had people possessed? A person having an evil twin--I mean clone? (Evil Gina and Hope) People going off to persue a modeling careers only to return home and find they love their husband's brother? A woman believing she's a witch with "MiniMe" following her around? Good grief! LOL Now AMC, that is a true story line if ever there was one...

Now sure every few years Tad gets amnesia, but through it all Dixie stays by his side to marry him yet again. Now that's love!

And sure Erika Kane has slept with damn near every man on the show, but who amounging us has not? Let us not throw stones from our fragile houses!

And okay, I must admit, it does take months to end a storyline on AMC (even though often the storyline comes back after afew years... but I digress). But haven't we all taken 6 days for an argument, or a week to drive home in the rain? Two days to turn a key in a lock?

...bumble bee... you are getting the soaps confused. The soap that dealt or deals with Hope and Gina is Days of Our Lives. That soap is totally F A K E! I watched it during my high school days along with Santa Barbara. Now I have been a consistent fan of Y$R since I can remember. My mother said it came on while she was on maternity leave with me. But my babysitter watched, therefore I watched it. And since I work nine months out of the year, while I am on vacation, I can catch up to what is going on. I listen to the "Clarence Update" and he fills you in on what's happening. Basically, I am an CBS soap fan. I did watch All My Children growing up, particularly because my cousin played on it way back in the 70's, not for too long though.

Do you all remember Love of Life and The Edge of Night and Capitol?

I used to watch soaps when I was younger. Days of our Lives and Another World were the main ones. In college I never had time and after college I still watched DOOL for a while and now I watch none! Occasionally I will see a commercial for DOOL and the same old stuff is still going on...

Ok, does anyone remember the soap - The Doctors? I believe it came on cbs. Alec Baldwin used to play Billy on the soap. This had to be on in the late 70's. I used to watch that one too.
