What's your badge look like?
What's everybody's badge look like? Especially now with so many on e-bay I think it's a lot more common for girls to have something different than the standard-issue badge...
although, I must admit, mine's the standard with the beveled edge (the design on the side.) If I had a million I think I'd get the one with four pearls -- it's not overwhelming, but it's still kind of classy and fancy.

Poor Jac's message is all lonely...
My badge is the absolutely plain one. But I think I might like the one with the etching on the sides (like yours) just to dress it up a lil.
But I think....if I could have ANY badge EVER....(well I want the Nat'l President's badge...have you SEEN that thing?? It's honkin' HUGE! With onyx and diamonds all around it....Dude....Dude....) But just a regular badge? I think I'd want one with sapphires. But not just four, but not all the way around. Cause one of the sisters at my chapter has pearls all around it, and it just looked gaudy. So I'd like something in the middle.
I'm gonna stop babbling now ;-)

I LOVE MY BADGE!! It has rubies all around and diamonds on the four points. I also bought a plain one to give to my little because the new girls badges are never here by initiation, and I didn't want to take a chance that she might lose mine.
I hope that I have a little legacy one day that wants to be a Phi Mu and wear my badge!!

The National President's Badge is called "Big Bertha" Actually the original NP Badge was diamonds...I believe the current one is CZ. It is not onyx, it is enameled just like the rest of ours.
I personally love the National Councils Badge, fashioned after the badge of the late 1800's. Very elegant IMHO.
At the 2002 Convention, the ORIGINAL badge of Mary Dupont Lines was on display. It weighs a bunch for a badge. I do love its elegant simplicity.
I have several badges. My original initiaton badge is plain. I misplaced it for a few years and was gifted a "chased" badge by a chapter I was advising. Then I found my original badge.
A while back I was able to purchase an emerald and opal jeweled badge from the EO. It was in the retired collection. I talked my wonderful husband into purchasing a ruby and pearl jeweled badge at the 2002 convention for me. It was the 28 stone badge that was only available as a commenorative during 2002.
Recently I was gifted another emerald and pearl badge that I am having made into a ring, so I can wear my badge during the day . It makes a marvelous conversation starter..... sororities, Phi Mu, NPC
I just love our badge.

My original badge from 1978 is the etched/chased border badge with 4 pearls. I love that look. I bought the pink ruby badge a couple of years ago at the Leadership/Adviser conference in Charlotte. I've loaned my original badge to some of the girls that didn't have a badge to loan to their new little sisters at Initiation. The badges with the opals are gorgeous - I wouldn't mind finding one of those to purchase as well. I like the idea of having it made into a ring...hmmm, maybe one day.

I thought about making my badge into a ring, but it would be so big that I know I would snag it on my clothes and bang it into things. I'm also really hard on jewelry.
So I got the badge ring from the Carnation collection, and I wear that sometimes. I still wish I could get away with wearing my badge to work

I have the plain badge because my parents didn't pay a dime for Phi Mu when I was in college and well.....with all the other fees that first semester in I figured I should get the cheapest one. I think ones with jewels and/or pearls are really gorgeous. I might want to upgrade one day but I even think the "standard" badge is really pretty so who knows. If I ever have a daughter and she happens to be a Phi Mu I'll make sure she has whatever badge she wants

Is there a catalog that we can get or somewhere online where we can see what other variances of badges look like? OR do we have to go through a chapter treasurer?

I believe you can ask that a catalogue be sent to you if you go to the Masters of Design webpage. They're the folks who do not only our badge, but a whole bunch of other organizations as well. I'm pretty sure this is the URL:
http://www.mastersofdesign.com
As for me...I've got the badge with pearls all around it and four rubies in the corners. My rubies ended up being pink, too! They actually match a bracelet my grandmother gave me years ago, which I never wore (not being big into jewelry) until I received my very own badge. Now I wear the two together all the time.
I'd cheerfully do a number of naughty things to get my hands on one of those opal badges, though. Maybe I can talk my parents into looking for one for graduation...? If they can find one, of course. :P

mine must have been made using an older machine cause it looks like i have two hands shaking!!!!!
all the newer sisters past my class have a hand and a heart....
i would LOVVVVVEEEEEE a badge with opals on it...that is my birthstone...but they dont make them anymore...
maybe one day ill pick out a more fancy one...lol one with a hand and a heart not two hands shaking!...but that is a while from now.. until then...mine is still special to me

Y'know, I didn't like the pearl-bound badge so much. I thought it took away from the actual badge part, you know?
OK, so here's another question...How many of you are/want to upgrade your badge? I think I might like to, since the one I have is just plain. But then....if I do that, then it won't be the badge I had all throughout college, you know? That one has memories.
Gyah! I don't know what to do....
